when you abstract that quote out, it sounds dumb, but it's a very healthy attitude he's conveying--about his playing time and in general about life.
I really liked the effort by him on defense. What??? I know. He was engaged and really tried to use his feet and ridiculous length a few times when switched on to guards at the 3 point line. Committed a silly swipe down foul, got beat once, but was really trying and contested a few pull ups well. Been saying this about him all year - he is athletic. Very quick with his feet offensively. Go go gadget arms. Why can’t he be a beast of beasts on defense?? - more raw skill (speed, hops, wing-span) than Draymond, Battier, and Tucker. If he watched film and focused on trying to be defensive stopper, he could be close to a max player - despite having no J at all.
I guess some people just have better natural instincts on defense than others. Sure, you can watch film, work hard and get better, but at some point there will be a ceiling if you don't intuitively know what to do and where to be. It's similar to being a good rebounder. You can learn the basics, work on it, learn how to box out properly etc. - but some people seem to magically appear where the ball is when it bounces off the rim. It's a talent.
I agree. But Klay, Battier, and even Kuz got better because of film study and working at it. I get that Kawhi, GP, prime Rondo and CP3 types of one-on-one defenders have an instinct about it. Trez has it too, taking those charges. Hope Vogel gets more out of him for this run.
Favorite play of his against the Magic (sums up his evening in one highlight as well) Beast mode in the 3rd. That energy really helped after whatever the f*** happened to our team in the second quarter. Not sure whether the game off recharged his batteries a bit or motivated him even more, but the results were really impressive.
IMO I just think Vogel is a defensive coach and Trez is too much of a liability on that side. If he played against Portland Dame and CJ would have hunted him and had even more of a field day.
Or not.. Any idea why Trez is getting so few minutes..? Seems like his energy could've been helpful at times in that NY game.
I think coach V is really good, but leaving Trez out of games makes zero sense. Clearly in the dog house for something. We need that energy he brings every game.
He (edit lol) can dominate the Warriors, and get Draymond in foul trouble. When Steph sits, he should play.
Nah, his hair was down last night, and he looked happy interacting with his teammates. Frank was just giving him a night off to rest while he they were giving Marc more tuning and conditioning work.
told you guys his role would be very limited in the playoffs I like him as a player, but given the team's aim of winning a title, it was a totally senseless signing seemingly just to piss off the Clips
