Is he trying to mimic the mamba with that jab step, body control driving to the hoop, footwork and sporting #24, probably another player who #1 guy is kobe. Crossing fingers that the Lakers landed a 2nd round gem, who teams can look back and bang their heads for not taking him.
Packing on 15 pounds before getting a proper training staff, to reiterate what I just said above... kid's a worker. Pepperdine being God awful has also been a talking point in every post draft show I've watched/ listened to about the pick. There's good and bad from that. Good, he would've gone much earlier if he went to a big program. Bad, you question the validity of the numbers considering the competition.
yeah, first thing i noticed. he's got the balance and obviously great eye hand coordination. i think he can do it. it's a little troubling that he's been working on the release for months and it's still really low in the video from yesterday or whatever. looks great for a 40th pick, though. legit positional size, tons of skill, pretty good athlete, too.
Yeah playing ball all these years, learning the trick moves to generate space …. and then giving a lot of it back with a low starting shot that no one helped him to fix at later levels. Welp if Lonzo could fix that atrocity of his the Lakers staff should help him a lot hopefully. But percentages won’t be great in the process for awhile probably.
I can see how he might struggle vs better competition because of his low release point, but this kid looks like a natural one on one scorer. His highlights are impressive, athleticism, can handle the ball, finish with each hand and footwork along with his wingspan. I'm looking forward to seeing him against bigger better defenders in the pros, to see how he can handle the pressure of someone constantly in his grill. This kid ceiling is high, he can be a potent offensive player if he puts in the work.
Wasn't it @Kobe Bryant 8 during the last 3 day run up to the draft that said, if Maxwell Lewis was there at 17 .... to take take him and not look back? Whoever he said it about of course it got my attention as I respect his knowledge like so many other peeps here. But not positive, could have been someone else.
Yeah, it was me. Call it a gut feeling on the kid. I can't shake the feeling that he's one of the better players in this entire draft. Hard worker, measurables, and you can see it on the tape. I hope I'm not wrong...
That would be super cool if you were the only guy in the community that called it and it became true. I thought I pulled that off once, but turns out I was slightly off. I like dragons.
That was the worst talent evaluation in the history of western civilization, you might as well be the video game controlling Captain of a Titanic Tour submarine
