I strongly agree with this and was asking the same question since the season started. We have two shooters warming the bench who never get a chance to actually shoot the ball. Why sign them in the first place? In the past, we'd sign guys like Sasha and Radman and we'd let them chuck shots, for better or for worse. But at least they had a chance to use they long-range shot... back then, when long-range shots weren't as important as they are now.

Yikes, it was Cousins. But understandable.

I mean... Boogie can't play. And it's better he does not rush his recovery. Take the time to heal up to 100%. Lose some weight, work on conditioning... it will take a while.

    wth - is this confirmed?

This is so stupid - why waive Cousins? Don't we realize that the Clippers will pick him up immediately?

I'm cool with this if Boogie is cool with it. If he isn't and he goes back to the Pelicans, we will rue this day.

They won't. And I'm sure we talked to him about it first.

Cousins already said he plans on rehabbing the entire year. He's not playing. I'm sure Cousins has enough respect for AD+Bron. If we could play Cousins, we would have kept him.

Markieff is a big body who I believe we can use in a smaller lineup. The problem we had with AD and Howard out there is that both of them were primarily efficient near the paint. Markieff's ability to space the floor really gives us better spacing and the best part about this is Kuzma won't have to play power forward for us anymore.

    Kuzma
    Markieff
    Howard
    KCP
    Caruso

Not bad... Great pickup by the Lakers!

Would have preferred Harkless as Morris isn't a good defender perusing his defensive metrics.

That being said it's nice Kuzma insurance. If Kuz doesn't have it going It will be easier to much up just from a physicality standpoint against the Clippers, and basically all the East contenders who come at you with physical tweeners (Simmons, Tatum/Hayward, etc.). Lot more versatility now available to the team when they move AD to the 5 at times in the game

Word is this will relieve Kuzma from having to play the 4 since AD was probably the only 4 we had. With Markieff playing the 4, Kuzma can slide into a more natural role at the 3.

I get that but realistically Lebron is going to be at 40-42 mpg in the playoffs most likely. Kuzma will get the 6-8mpg as the backup SF when Lebron sits. When AD sits it's probably going to be Morris in the game as he's the more physical PF (Admittedly, Kuz could still see time here in Lebron no AD lineups or if they go small ball with Lebron at the 5 ala Houston which I hope they don't)

Then knowing Vogel he's going to play it by who's hot to get the minutes next to Lebron and AD between Kuzma, Morris, and Dwight. It's definitely an insurance policy/stopgap for Kuzma

That sounds like a good problem to have, honestly.

I like it. Gives us size which we needed. Would have preferred Harkless but that seemed like a pipe dream. He's not as offensively gifted as his twin but has the same toughness.

Sucks to see Boogie go but we need playable bodies. Hope we do for him what we did for Xavier Henry and continue his treatment.

Oh no, we signed another guy who’ll get minutes at pf, moving AD to center. He probably won’t resign.

(sorry, just for those who miss vash)

Coming out the draft, Markieff was regarded as the better twin amongst the two. Marcus became a better shooter in recent years while remaining a stout defender. Keef is a better all around player and suits this team very well.

Rob, Klutch and LeBron can take a bow. This team is ready to roll.

Their PER 36 averages are nearly identical. There really isn't a huge difference between them other than the outlier year Marcus seems to be having shooting the ball. Considering we gave up nothing for him, I am happy. This is great news for Lakers fans. I still think we are missing another playmaker...

Let’s hope he doesn’t forget how to shoot once becoming a laker
