Alex Regla wrote a really good piece on what Marc brings to this club, titled
Marc Gasol is the Glue of the Lakers' Offseason

    https://throwdowns.substack.com/p/marc-gasol-is-the-glue-of-the-lakers

I recommend reading the entire thing. Below, I highlighted where he breaks down examples of what he'll bring to the table along with the video to support it.

And then there's some nifty little defensive stats to top it off

His career year in assists was in 2018, he averaged 4.7. I think he can surpass that with Bron, AD, Trez, Schroder, KCP, Wes, AC, and Kuz on the receiving end.

:Magicwow4: ..... Look at those numbers defending at and around the rim as apposed to the early running commentary from "you people".

    :giggle: ;)

Nah. Just didn’t realize how effective a player he still is in very important areas for us. Very cool!

Marc was such a good addition... I might even say he was the best one out of the bunch. He stretches the floor, solid defender, smart, great passer. And we dont need him to do as much as he was doing in Toronto.

Seems a better pick up for Lakers than Ibaka was for Clippers? Leaving our thievery of Harrell out of the equation? Like we did them with the Morris twins?

I agree the NBA may expand the roster beyond 15 in addition to 2 way contracts

Big Marc looks like he's lost some weight already. Props!

Also, that corner 3 with an assist from LeBron...

I hadn’t thought about that, but it makes sense. I would hope that if this did happen, they’d also expand the hard cap correspondingly (or have the extra spots not count towards the hard cap).

In that scenario, I would love to have Pau.

That would be perfect! I do want to see Pau back in purple and gold one more time. It would be so cool.

Would keep him available to Kobe’s family on a regular basis too. But no idea where he makes his home these days if still in the US. Maybe around here anyway?

Yeah Pau is in LA, Marc said so, one of the reasons he signed with the Lakers

I think if the team doesn't have a glaring need for an additional player come buyout season, we'll add Pau at that time.

It’s a boost to the starting lineup (most likely) that we haven’t had since Brook Lopez. We lose some speed and athleticism going from McGee to Gasol, but we gain a legit threat to score in the halfcourt offense and as pointed out another capable playmaker. It will definitely show on offense, where at times we struggled to score early last season with McGee out there.
