Yea but when 10 different websites are telling the same story there might be some traction to it..
or they read each other and create an echo chamber.
This. How the Gasol to Charlotte talk flowed:
Random NBA Blogger A: suggests hypothetical trade
Random NBA Blogger B: references hypothetical trade by Blogger A
Random NBA Blogger C: states there's multiple reports of this rumor, based on Blogger A and Blogger B
Sometimes, a more legit source will then pick this up because it's the offseason and they need something to talk about. My money is on there being ZERO talks between LA and Charlotte and this trade was never a possibility. I expect Gasol to be a Laker or retired this season, definitely not in Charlotte.
You nailed this, wallangong, but forgot to say how none of the above people talked with or heard anything from Gasol or anyone in his camp.
And all started by Stein which other sites did the same thing with his musings. Saw something from Sports Illustrated on the subject and clicked on that and they were just quoting him.
I give weight to the possibility he's not coming back just watching how hard Dwight is working on his mobility on defense, like he has been told he can compete for the starting 5 spot. If Marc comes back he will start. For other reasons. Dwight would surely start over DJ and I'll believe AD starting at the 5 regular season when I see it.
Yeah, most of these guys say "according to Stein"...
Like, that was just speculation, wasn't it?
That would be tampering...
reporters talking to players and agents?
Hey Chick. When I wrote ‘all of the above,’ I meant Random Bloggers A, B, and C, not anyone affiliated with the Lakers.
I read, "heard anything from Gasol or anyone in his camp" - direct quote
Doesn't matter anyways until something actually happens he's on the team.
Yup. My take too.
Oh bye Marc.
Retires as a Grizzly, a fitting end to a storied career
Really sucks how it went down last year with him after signing Drummond, was hoping he would have a nice end to his career here. Oh well.
And Morc was no more....
Well, it seems we're over Marc after all. Maybe he did not feel like playing anymore, maybe we collectively wanted to go back to the Dwight/McGee formula, but with DJ instead... who knows.
It's pretty obvious that Dwight will start now. That's why he was working on his stamina and conditioning like crazy and the videos of him taking 3-pointers make perfect sense.
This isn't surprising, the FO wasn't all that thrilled with Gasol last season. If you followed Rob's moves, it was pretty obvious that Gasol wasn't coming back.
