Has there been any confirmation beyond Stein's hint/speculation? Last I heard, after the Olympics Marc was definitive about returning this season.

He and Dwight would be a great 1-2 punch splitting minutes at center. Good complementary players- Marc who can stretch the floor and help ball movement and Dwight the energy guy off the bench for pick and roll, lobs and boards. Both play solid D. I’d hate to lose Marc over that Drummond nonsense from last year.

If he’s indeed planning on not returning, maybe we can deal him to Memphis so he can finish his career there. Definitely one of the Grizz’s all time best players.

I didn't see anything from Woj about it yesterday. What was the report?

I read the Stein thing. It did not read like a report, but more like he had heard from somewhere that it was a possibility. In other words, Stein was speculating for clicks. Sure, it's possible that Marc could retire, or move back to Europe, but Marc is a very direct man. He said he was coming back, and he has not spoken another word about his status since then. I would tend to believe what he said until he says otherwise.

Yeah, Google and Yahoo data mining me put up Stein’s words as a headline on my Yahoo home page already to get my attention.

Also, I should add, that Rob Pelinka seems to think Marc is coming back. If Rob knew Marc was not coming back, I would be shocked if he only had Dwight and AD at the 5 spot. The strongest indicator to me, would be if we sign another true 5.

All I can say is we'll see. I believe Stein got that info from somewhere, he's pretty reputable.

Has Rob come out and said he knows Marc's coming back or you're just inferring that from the fact that we haven't signed another 5?

Where's the Mr Rambis (bat) signal? I do want to believe. Sometimes I'm there. Honestly. Other times not sure because of certain topics and wording offered up. That could be my problem.

stein's plugged in, but his wording was that it wasn't a lock. i expect gasol to be here. if he's not, it's a bit of a problem. getting a biyombo is nice, but that's just a second howard. nobody can do what gasol does, and i think we were planning on his presence in the starting five.

that said, he could certainly walk away from that amount of money and retire if he felt like it. and that's just as well for us, because it would mean his heart wasn't in it anyway. but we are worse without him, as detailed...repeatedly.

Alarm bells would be going off for me if Mr. Rambis DID have insight into Marc Gasol.

He’s apparently on the marketing side but not as directly involved with the Lakers anymore from what I recall?

I can follow someone in that position getting insight into our home run plans like Westbrook, but not sure if juicy rumors about our back-up center would bubble up to the marketing people.

You trying to say Marc doesn’t move the monetary needle?
