it's almost like...he should have been the starter the whole time? and that we had the league's best starting lineup when he was in it? even though he's fat!!?

On the bright side Marc got to sit his 36 year old knees early in game 5. We’ll need his otherworldly floor spacing and defense for game 6. He’s definitely the difference maker for us.

high quality snark, but he was our best center by far yesterday, stats be damned. drummond was clueless on both ends about positioning.

Oh I agree! Marc might possibly be the best center we’ve had since Andrew Bynum. His -14 last night was an outlier. Had more to do with everyone else missing shots.

oh, ok--sorry. there's so much ridiculous anti-gasol sentiment on this forum that it seemed like you were being sarcastic.

yeah, i'm on your side here. we were very lucky to get him at the vet min, even in his current state.

fans won't be happy next year when he walks and we're forced to use our vet min on a starting center that isn't him.

You called it right the first time @abeer and it’s been consistent.

oh, so that guy's just a jerk who doesn't understand basketball? because the ironic statements were generally accurate, even down to the "generational talent", which i thought was an exaggeration, but he did win dpoy, start at center for a title team, make three allstar teams and two all nba teams, so if you stretch the definition a bit...sure.

he's no andre drummond, though. so many rebounds.

This is from the site rules page FYI.

    2. Excessive Baiting Is Prohibited-
Members may not attempt to goad other members by making posts in an attempt to make fun of, ridicule, or incite the anger of another member.

If you don't like Gasol, think he is washed, or generally sucks, just say so. I won't hold it against you. But try to refrain from multiple baiting posts in a row. Please.

Duly noted. I’ll refrain from discussing Marc Gasol going forward.

Discuss him all you want. Criticize him. Disagreement is not baiting. Having and expressing your own opinion is not baiting. What you were doing in this thread above is, but I think you are way smart enough to know that.

Nah I’m done. Not gonna get banned over romanticizing over a guy who has identical numbers (5/4) as 2013 Robert Sacre. I’m indeed smarter than that. Thanks for the heads up though.

I don't see a scenario where he fits into the Lakers system at all. It doesn't work. As good of a passer he is, we don't need a center to stand in the perimeter simply looking for cutters. He's also way too slow out there. Might be time for Gasol to retire from the NBA or play for an European team.

It was a failed experiment, but I get that they tried it, we swapped him for McGee, on paper it should have worked. Coaching staff never found a way to use him right though, I’m not mad at Marc. No way he’s back next season though.

the experiment that had him as part of the best starting five in basketball was a failed one?

i've watched a different game than most of you all season long.

i think starting him at center in game 6 was an admission of guilt, personally.

I thought he had a two year contract already. Isn’t he signed for next year?
