I don't think it's tough with them at all. Not when their games aren't the same and they occupy different areas of the court. He could give Marc Kief's role on offense and have Trezz pickup Kief's defensive assignment. By just doing that, nothing changes. It's really simple. Then he can incorporate more wrinkles that best fit their strengths. Especially when Kief has missed 25 3s in a f***ing row.

I'm sure that he has less to do with it than you suggest. We disagree on the subject of Marc Gasol's effectiveness. No big deal, he still plays for the Lakers

It seems that Vogel prefers a stretch 4 to play with Trez. He may say otherwise but that's how it plays out on the court.

    What a guy Marc.

I mused yesterday he might even be willing to tutor Dre if they gave him some regular playing time, even if reduced. Here he is doing it anyway.

what does this mean? because we've played two bigs a lot the past couple years.

he must mean on defense, and that you can't play two bigs unless AD is one of them. and he may be right. but they haven't bothered trying, and the season is almost over.

My guess: theoretically Gasol + Trezz would work on D with Gasol in the paint and the more mobile Trezz defending the more active PFs. But Trezz does not defend in open space anywhere close to how AD or Kuz or even Morris can. Vogel has probably seen plenty of evidence of Trezz's defensive limitations already and has determined that it would be a failed pairing.

AD's a unique a big because he can rotate all the way around the floor, which is why having him at center is a nightmare for opposing teams--unless your pf is less mobile on the perimeter (like trez).

so i can see why vogel would be concerned having two guys on the floor who would have trouble showing on a pick and roll and then being able to recover and challenge a shot on the other side of the court after two passes.

and it may explain why they wanted to try drummond with AD, as in theory, drummond has the footspeed to do some of that. in practice, he doesn't have the brain speed (or desire?) to do it, so he can be exploited in similar ways to how teams go after most centers.

anyway, i think marc gives us more on offense and defense than either of our other nominal centers (AD is a center). but he's probably only good for 20mpg, so he should be deployed sensibly. to me, that's with the starters.

    LOL.Gasol had 1point 3 assists and 5 rebs.

Drummond had 6 points 2 assists and 10 rebs. Both had 5 fouls.

As a duo they hit the boards and hacked people. That physicality had an impact on the game.

I actually like what Drum and Marc bring together (in split minutes) when you tell them to go out and play aggressive. It might not be what they would like individually, but if they can get it going in the playoffs, it's a mean big man rotation. I think Vogel is starting to figure this out.

Ain't that the truth with too many around here. Couple games to couple games swings. No one knows what's hurting these guys physically on any given night that affects play. There was only ONE Kobe Bryant. Probably in the history of the league in that regard. Spoiled us while we loved watching him play through most everything always.

LOL.1 point 5 rebs and 3 assists with 5 fouls in 18 minutes, that's not exactly balling out folks. Still I loved seeing him and Drummond hitting the boards and wacking folks! I'll take that kind of performance every night!

Yeah with what you said next above in the full post .... nice backhanded compliment. Ignoring that he’s been shooting 62% from 3 and had really good outings that were much more impactful recently as well. All while being dropped from the starting position and having his building for the playoffs momentum severely jerked with .... with the random minutes since. Same with Matthews.

You’ve been watching NBA ball as long as you say and you still base impact off looking at the box score? Come on now, he stretches the floor, his defense is solid and crafty, and his passing is excellent.

1 point is still 1 point dude. It doesn't matter if you are shooting 80 percent from the three point line. Gasol is a pro, suck it up and play whatever role required. I honestly doubt that he is as concerned about his role as some of you guys are. The dude came here to get a ring, whatever is necessary.
