I want to believe that his passing and shooting will make up for Dwight's inability to pass and shoot but it's tough to see it when the guy is moving like a turtle. In hindsight, keeping Dwight would have been the best. Great motivator, high energy, runs the floor for easy lobs, and one of the better interior defenders. Seems like Marc's pros doesn't outweigh Dwight's cons.

yeah, just don't see how you make that call now. 2 games into a season in which having howard would have affected neither.

    LOL.

I don't post much after the game anymore, and I probably won't.

My emotions get too high, and that clouds my analysis without going back and rewatching what actually happened.

I do think the next evolution is unlocking his passing on the offensive end.

    We'll get there....

Yes, Marc is slow, but his defensive IQ is off the charts and he also sets great screens. Most of this, however, is not flashy, so people think he's kinda useless out there. He's in fact doing very well, IMO, and does not need to score much at all. He simply needs to stay healthy, gel with the team and perform against some of the bigger guys in the playoffs. That's it.

Again, I do agree that picking up a more athletic big down the road, just in case, is the way to go, but Marc is doing just fine. I mean, it's only two games, things can only get better and the guy can at least hit his FTs. As far as I'm concerned he can score 4-5 PPG this season, since we have Trez, Schroeder, Kuzma, Pope and THT and those guys can all score. His scoring is irrelevant, but his D is essential.

You can tell he’s thinking and processing out there and isn’t quite up to speed yet. He’ll never be fast but will be better when he learns our terminology and his teammates tendencies.

right. in his own words and in vogel's, it will take a bit to get it really working. i just think it's odd how people have decided that the switch from javale/dwight to gasol/harrell is such a problem at this stage in the season.

not trashing dwight, wanted to keep him. but i just think we upgraded, tbh (said the same prior to this happening, check the logs).

i loved dwight last year, but we could barely play him for most of the playoffs. we had to sit him and mcgee for large parts of three of the four series! crying over this just doesn't compute for me.

is his speed gona pickup or something? he couldn't even guard your basic garden variety big in Powell

No, it's not going to pick up. He's just going to be more efficient playing it as we go.

if teams want to run their offense through their garden-variety bigs, we've already won. the video evidence above suggests he defended the pick and roll just fine.

marc had 9 boards (led team) in 20 minutes and was a +8. not sure why he's drawing the ire.

oh yeah, he doesn't move fast enough.

I don't know why you keep using +/- as the basis of a player impact on the team.....wasn't the fact teams need to run stuff thru a garbage big, it's the fact he can't even guard garbage bigs

i don't know why you're focusing on fifth options doing well while their teams lose and trying to blame their "successes" on gasol.

did you consider that dwight powell going off might be the gameplan?

clearly missing my pt...for example it wasnt just cause Ibaka had a good gm but the fact Marc couldn't guard Ibaka on any plays lead to Clipps getting more easy looks cause rest of team had to adjust to that weakness....we'll wait n see when they go up against better Cs n results continue to make this weakness even more glaring n that wasnt the gameplan for powell to do well, dall wasnt running anything for powell, he just got his cause it was so easy

Best game yet and why we're lucky as f*** to scoop him up. He's not going to do this every game, but he's definitely getting more comfortable. Half of it doesn't ever show on the box (screens, D, hockey assists)

12 points, 8 dimes (game high) , 7 boards. Didn't miss a shot and went 3-3 from deep.
