Pulling off the stuff he did after Kawhi wasted our time in free agency, and the mid season pickup of Morris with the Deng anchor around his neck, should have gotten Rob more than 1 first place vote for executive of the year. What a joke.
People will say in hindsight "but the Lakers had LeBron and AD," after saying all season long that "the Lakers only have LeBron and AD, and the Clippers are just better".
Clippers should be known as the Donuts. Anyone who picked them to win anything is a (bleep) idiot. A loser franchise with loser players at the top. Until you can PROVE otherwise, you will be donuts forever.
You all would have taken 17 mil a year for garbage return if some idiot(s) offered you. Blame the right people. Deng happened to be in the path of a couple of madmen making it rain with Dr Buss' paper. Every decent thing Mitch was handed to him. Malone, Payton, Artest, guys who decided to come to LA before Mitch ever did anything. Gasol was given to us just after Jerry Buss left the Grizzles but had already created a strong foundation with the Lakers so Chris Wallace was comfortable dealing Pau to us and we had the deal they wanted. Jimmy Buss notoriously pushed Mitch to do whatever it took to get Nash. These 2 guys were the epitome of bad basketball management.
It's well known Bynum was Asst GM Ronnie Lester's, (who they later fired) find and he and coach/consultant Bill Bertka pushed hard for us to pick him @ 10. Jimmy Buss tried to sneak in some credit for Drew's discovery later after everyone realized the kid was gonna be great. I mean come on, like Jimmy was @ the McDonald's All-American game scouting Drew. More likely he was @ a bar scouting the perfect martini recipe with Chaz. All Kupbuss did was approve the good work already done by their guys. And to thank him, Jimmy fired Ronnie and got rid of everyone from the Phil era. Anyways, I was referring to free agents/trades.
Also with all these 10 day contracts being handed out across the league to former NBA players, I wonder if we could bring him up and just take it out of what we're already STILL paying him.
No way am I going to listen to an interview with Deng but if someone does, tell me what he says about his contract with the Lakers. If he doesn’t say it was like highway robbery without a mask, the guy is lying.
Pretty hard to believe Deng is “only” 36 years old. He fits right in with this roster and wouldn’t even be the oldest guy on the team lol. … good point though, how does it even work if we offer him a 10 day contract. Do we actually have to pay it?
Somebody HAS to pick this guy up just so we can make a new round of Memes! Quick, tell Chicago we are interested!!!
