I hope they gave him a standing ovation because I guarantee when Brandon becomes great and perhaps wins a Finals MVP the first person he'll think or one of them is Luol.

Does Luol have a beer belly? I always wonder when I see him play. We need him to pick up his scoring, I expect him or JC to be the leading scorer of this team.

Luol only averaged about 12 points last season. He's definitely a capable scorer, but that won't be his main job here. It's to be a leader, play solid perimeter defense, space the floor, rebound, hustle, move without the ball, and switch on defense.

i could see this team having no one score over 18, but six or seven guys hit double figures.

I think DA leads the team, but I'm with you - not sure anyone is over 18 PPG.

I think Ingram will surprise a lot of ppl with how easy he'll be able to score in a league where spacing is much better and no zone defenses (college) to clog the paint. He's going to be our best offensive threat even as a rookie.

That's where I think that's one of the biggest weakness of our team is; we don't have a number 1 scorer. We'll have to make to. On topic, glad to see Deng at a Sparks game.

Absolutely love this signing. The only knock I can make on this signing is that we chased Baze before upping the offer to Deng. Based on when we contacted him, it seems like Deng was another one of our first contacts but we would've signed Bazemore instead of him if he didn't stay in Atlanta. Don't get me wrong, I like Baze but Deng is perfect for this team. And we'd still be in dire need of veteran leadership if we had landed Baze.

I'm shocked we convinced him to come here to babysit. He'll be the leader, the example the kids look to, the locker room presence, the culture setter (as far as players go), and the on court defensive coordinator.

I think he's going to be invaluable to Ingram's growth and development.

Luuke was instrumental in that persuasion.

it will be an issue at times, but i think long term, russell or ingram is supposed to be that guy. probably will be clarkson or even randle next year. lakers went to randle in crunch time a lot for a rook last year, imo.

Russell and Ingram can both do that. Ingram not right now obviously, but Russell doesn't seem more than a year or two away from being a 20 ppg scorer or near it at least. I could see there by 2017-2018.

And to his credit I remember reading that Julius was excellent in the clutch. In fact Julius hit the game winner over the thread topic. ;)

That last bit is so important and something we're not going to be able to value for a few years. Deng is a smart, professional veteran and has been a successful player in this league built similarly to Ingram. He can show him the way both literally and figuratively.

By contrast Russell's example last year was Nick Young.

I see Deng starting but Ingram will gradually find his minutes increase as he gets acclimated to League play. It could very well be that when games are in the balance, Deng could slide over to the 4 with Ingram at the 3. Russell and Randle with Mozgov against big line-ups or Clarkson in place of the Big Ruskie against small ball ones.

Ingram should have the ability to play for the starting spot. If he outplays Deng, then give him the job. I want him to prove he's ready though.

I can see it now. After Brandon Ingram wins Finals MVP in 2020. "I'd first like to thank Luol. He really took me under his wing and was crucial in my development and growth as a player."

Wait I'm getting ahead of myself.
