right. he's full of s***. you want to prove yourself? take half the salary still owed you in a buyout with the idea that you'll make that back by playing well and signing a new deal next summer.

    that's so not happening.

teams around the league are trying to get ingram or kuzma, i'm certain. that's the "market" for deng. the lakers are trying to give them zubac or maybe randle. problem with randle is that his RFA status may not be desirable to all teams (some might view it as a headache).

as for trades, i still think no one's eating deng's entire deal without getting ball/kuzma/ingram, so just forget it. something with dallas that involved randle/deng/zubac for dwight powell/mcroberts/noel is in line with my current thinking.

dallas does it because their chances of getting their hands on someone as good as randle in FA are pretty slim (and they've generally gotten burned in FA over time). the problem there is adding deng's salary may kill their ability to re-sign seth curry next summer, which they seem interested in doing.

for the lakers, they get a capable backup pf/c in powell (at 9 million per) and a good chunk of space, all without having to commit to dead money for 5 years.

anyway, that particular trade may not work, but something like that, maybe with a team that's bad and either capped out or completely hopeless in terms of FA.

I'd make that move in a second. I like Zubac a lot, but it's seeming like he's not going to be a great fit here and he deserves a chance to prove himself in this league. He'd be a great fit in Memphis learning under Marc Gasol who is his idol if I remember correctly.

For what it's worth Deng/Clarkson/Zubac for Monroe/Teletovic works. Teletovic has 10.5 million left. We could stretch him for 3ish million over 3 years or trade him as a decent expiring.

I’m okay with trading anyone not named Kuzma, Ingram, or Lonzo to get rid of that albatross.

How about Deng and an unprotected 1st round pick to a team that's rebuilding. Maybe we could even throw in zubac or jc with the pick? I'm sure there's a team that doesn't care about absorbing salary as long as they get picks and a young talent like jc or zuuu.

It's possible but the Lakers plan on using that cap space to sign a major piece or two. If you're the other team then you're essentially paying 36 million for a late 1st. Hell even if we don't sign someone that pick looks like a late teens 1st rounder soon. Is it worth it? Maybe but I don't know. I don't know how much more salary Brooklyn can absorb.

Cavs get upgraded at the big position, send a pick there as well
Mavs absorb deng but get two great young players in Randle and Zu
We get rid of Deng, Expiring in Harris, And Shumpert with two years left who we can easily flip or dump again at the deadline or next summer

Only downside for me is that we would be at a loss until Nance comes back with our 2nd unit and the small ball style they play

I'll trade some firstborns to a Warlock for a proper hex to be placed on Deng.

Wondering if we could work something out with Utah around Favors/Joe Johnson with Randle/Clarkson as our trade chips. I plugged a couple of trades in that work financially. I figure Utah has the type of market that would welcome young talent if it means eating the Deng deal since FA appeal has been relatively low there historically.

The teams we could trade with include the following:

    Chicago
    Atlanta
    BKN (again!)

Chicago is the MOST likely. I would absolutely give them Zubac/Deng/1st for Mirotic/Payne like someone suggested.

this is like the one i suggested except you added cleveland. i don't think you'd need to. i'd rather have powell than shumpert. i just don't think dallas bites because they'd be killing their cap space next year, something they've been trying to preserve.
