Deng/future lotto protected pick (with declining protection)/Zu for Tyson Chandler...who says no? Chandler isn't expiring but contract is only there for 18/19 and its nearly $5mill less than Deng. Pho takes the pick as the incentive and could salvage Deng as that stretch 4 Bender/Chriss dont seem to be all that ready, Zu can be their project now. Chandler would fit in like a glove as the vet C next yr once we can get the 2 max guys (i could be wrong but from what I've read we're only 4-5 mill short of having room for the 2nd max guy). Chandler still is decent PnR defender and we dont have to pay Lopez to come back.

We say no. There isn't much incentive to give up assets if it doesn't clear him off for next summer. We need him off so we can make a run at the free agents next offseason. Losing one year off of a crap contract (essentially what is happening) isn't worth Zu and a pick, especially with all the free agents available next offseason.

easier said than done though, with the story of magic/rob offering unprotected 1st with no bites to unload deng. I understand does completely clear it but it clears it enough to get to 2 max lvl if my assumption is correct. Chandler would be a solid C if we get those 2 max guys, he's has the experience n is the type of C you'd need for better PnR D, Lopez isn't or wont be any better defending PnR like our previous failed C (hibbert, Moz)

Chandler has been awful when he could even play. We might as well stretch Deng rather than give up assets for a year of cap relief. Now where you COULD be onto something is getting a third team involved where we do get an expiring and maybe a deal with 3 years (Deng's length) at like 8 million of something, Phoenix takes Deng and the third team takes Chandler.

could trade Dung for Knight and see if we can recoup his value, lesser per yr deal, could just attach a future highly protected 1st and see if they'll bite

Stretching deng was actually my preferred outcome next offseason. Would have given us enough to sign PG outright, while keeping DLO and Moz(who was still serviceable imo). I honestly wanted to see how much the team improved with little outside factors.

I assume one can be correct in their observations and still b**** about the matter. Didn't say you were wrong. I b**** all the time about no Dodgers on DirecTV and I'm not wrong that it sucks.

I dont think Deng will be stretched...hell be traded by next summer at all costs not including Ingram,Ball. Were gonna need that 10 mill if we wanna bring in two maxs plus a 3rd player(say another FA or retain Randle/Lopez).

LOL, well played with that reference. If Magic and Rob can flip the Walking Deng then we are completely back on track.

Was talking about if Moz was still here, as mentioned below.

    Say what?

I thought it still counts against the cap, but in lesser amounts over greater years.

Or are you just saying doesn't cost us assets?

Stretching Luol next summer means he'll give us a cap hit of 7.362 million for the next 5 years.

Maybe we can get Deng to take less buyout money by offering him a commercial for cemetery plots. Since he's already dead.

I thought it was 9.something and almost 10 mill.

That 7.3 mill could be a key difference doe. But wouldnt be the end of the world if were absolutely forced to. Does this hit mean we wait till next summer if we have to cause were confident at worst we stretch but we think we could move him at the end of the day?
