No wonder you're so "down" on Deng. Stirring up sympathy.

At some point, he's going to be relegated to the bench. Will it be this season? I'm uncertain, but I expect it next year. In the third year of his deal, I wouldn't be surprised if we're looking into stretching waiving his contract. It might be our best option, unfortunately.

Joe Johnson would've been 10x better, based on contract and production and before anyone mentions JJ D, Deng dont got any either himself anymore.

Hard to believe the biggest disappointment this year and been a veteran like deng. The same guy the bulls didn't want to trade when we were talking about trading kobe.

well, that was ten years ago.

and deng is still playing pretty well on d and helping on the boards. his offense is just so frightful that it's hard to think about the other stuff.

    Were you lying here Luol?

Throughout his career, any time he’s struggled, those evening workouts he tacked on to his day reminded him why he loves basketball. He loves the game, not the perks that come with it. Deng said the sessions have often served as a kind of therapy.

“Just shooting is really the highlight of my day,” Deng said.

Get your a** in the gym and FIX this now. Extra 2-3 hours a day. 17 million a year should cover the overtime. Think to self, "what would Kobe do?"

I'm really trying not to get too down on him yet because I have to believe a vet like him will find his way, but so far he looks like he's aged very fast. It could partly be the contrast of all the youth around him, but then Mozgov sure doesn't seem to be suffering a lot with his lack of speed or athleticism, his effort has been solid. I'd like to see Deng pick it up a bit as we go along here, because at the moment that 4 year contract is looking looooong. Hopefully he's at least being a valuable presence in the locker room and in practice for the young guys and especially Ingram, because that at least gives him some value, a real NBA vet for the young guys to learn from, unlike say the 76ers who did it the wrong way the last few years and had kids running the whole show.

Just am frustrated with the quality of his shot attempts. So many clankers like he has forgotten how to shoot. Not great arc on them.

whats your definition of "pretty well on d"? He has a defensive rating of 111, general you want to be below 100 to be considered "pretty good"....just as a general ref., Young who isn't known for D has a def. rating of 114

111 is bad, but under 100 is better than pretty good.

Is that career for young? I thought he was playing some of the best D on the team this year.

drtg also depends in part on system and other players. my eye (sin!!!) tells me deng contains in one-on-one situations and is generally in the right place on d. more than i can say for...anyone but nance and mozgov?

but yeah, his shot is freaking terrifying, as are his general body mechanics. he's getting by on d via knowhow and wingspan. but man, this might be the worst signing in lakers history if he keeps bottom-ironing open shots and looking like an overloaded sidecar with the ball in his hands.

Agreed. He still does many things well, but they're all things that most anyone could do. I still wholeheartedly believe that his presence is good for a young team like this one, but his lack of shooting is making him a liability. Still 3/4 of the season to go though.
