And Lonzo is the one guy there coordinated enough to dribble, look up the floor and point all at the same time.
I hope he doesn't continue with the Steph Curry pull-up and/or deep 3 pointers once the season starts. He doesn't need to shoot those. I only want him taking 3's when he's open after the ball has been swung back to him.
I've seen a bunch of Open court transition plays from Zo already where he receives the inbounds pass and passes ahead to the open man while he (Zo) is running without taking a single dribble. The level of awareness that takes is something most players will never have.
This is also bodes well for Laker Free Agency, too. Yeah, his dad may have said that he has a target on his back, but he's also winning over some of the leagues top players by reppin' their shoes.
Get use to it Real cause our social status is back to where it used to be when the good Doc was still around. We've been in a haze since Dr. Buss's passing. You had owners and team executives always say good things about Jeanie but couldn't extend that same affirmation towards Jimmy. It was always insinuated that it should be Jeanie, instead of Jim, in charge of basketball ops. Talking heads like Stephen A, Wilbon and even the once ESPN employed Magic Johnson couldn't stand Jimmy. So is it any wonder that ESPN and the league in general is now more privy to the Lakers. Ball was hellbent on becoming a Laker. Paul George is hellbent on coming back home. Heck there's even wild speculation that Lebron wants to leave home to come to LA. There was even a report that it wasn't LA the city that attracted Bron...it was just the Lakers, since he wouldn't have anything to do with the Clippers. Leave it up to Mitch and Jimmy to screw it up so bad that the Clips started getting recognition as the team in LA...psshh. No one wants anything to do with the Clips now...to the point that they threw a hail mary to the Logo and are praying it gets them some recognition. Balmer is getting questions about why the Clips aren't moving to Seattle. DeAndre wanted out, but got locked in. CP3 bounced as if the last 6 years of his prime was nothing to hold onto in LA. JJ Redick bounced. Blake needed T-shirts to stay. People are sincerely interested in LA again...and only the Lakers. People are sleeping on the biggest acquisition this year. It wasn't Butler, George or even Zo. It was replacing the ghost of Jerry West with Magic Johnson. Now everybody loves us again. We'll be getting positive spin in most if not all media outlets. Heck even Bill Simmons is full of green envy for us now. We'll be all over ESPN and future free agents and kids coming out of school will see all the positive spin that the media will be giving us from now on. We're back fam! #MagicEffect
Is it also possible that along with what you say above, Lonzo and Pops are realizing his own shoes truly are not good enough for prime time performance and could lead to injuries?
Why didn't Jeannie can her brother sooner? And great post Vash. That Ball Boy brings excitement. Players are noticing.
hopefully i really hope he sticks with nike or addidas because i don't have faith that BBB shoes are even close to being on par with those brands in regards to technology, engineering, etc
You guys are now BALL-lievers!!!! In all honesty you all know I was so high on Lonzo that you started calling me Lavar haha Even I am amazed at his game. Never would think he'd be this good so quickly. Obviously it's SL but you have to be excited!
I just hope that we run some sets for Lonzo the same way we did with Nick Young. Lonzo is so smart playing off ball as well but during Summer League we've really just seen him playing PG. Running Lonzo off screens and without the ball would also improve his 3 point percentage in my opinion because as the point guard he is usually taking these shots off the dribble instead of just catching and shooting. Really hope Luke and the coaching staff do this during the season.
I would say most of the site were believers in the kid, but we're just not ready to crown him yet and we shouldn't be. Every step needs criticism to keep him honest. Until we've hoisted Larry O'Briens there's a lot of work to be done.
What LFR said in their recent podcast, he'd like to see Ball play more of SG in the half court and it makes total sense. KCP, Ingram and Randle all have the capabilities to be the playmaker and initiator. Off the bench we have JC. I'm more excite than ever with Ball. He's great off the ball and he's a better shooter wide open.
Exactly and I know LFR has mentioned this a few times in his podcasts or videos. KCP with an over 2.0 AST to TO ratio should be able to help in this area as you suggested.
