Damn. Tough break for him and the Bulls.

Wonder if they've figured out the issue yet

Like DAR, Lonzo's game really matured and he was a huge difference maker for that Bulls team. Sucks he can't stay healthy.

He's a bust at this point. Absolute bust.

It’s a shame, maybe another Brandon Roy situation

I was never crazy about him when he was one of the young phenoms for us, but damn: his surgeries are not working and he got shut down for the season. His last game was Jan 14th last year. Soon after that date he had surgery, then again this Sept. He can't cut, jump or run without pain. I think he had the potential to be really good; now I'm sad for this dude. Dude's only 25. I always wonder about the quality of the surgeon in cases like this. I hope he can come back and contribute for a team at some point.

In my mind, if injuries derailed your career, but otherwise you were nice, you are not a bust.

Markele Fultz -- bust (if you don't think he's derailed by that shoulder thing)
    Jabari Parker -- gray area
    Lonzo -- not a bust

You think Fultz is a bust, but Lonzo isn't? I root for Fultz. He's having arguably his best season, was definitely derailed by injuries, and has always (as far as I know) been a decent dude. Am I missing something?

Yeah Fultz is having a pretty good season after missing some time early in the season. Really settled Orlando’s offense down a bit

That's bad. You never want to be the first when it comes to an injury. You don't want to be the guy they bring other doctors in for because they're dumbfounded.

hmmm...i mostly agree with zen's definition and fultz assessment. he's having an ok year, but he was the #1 overall pick and has yet to be a positive on offense. credit to him for not quitting and become a good defender and earning a starting spot after a rough start to his career. but there's only a handful of #1 picks that would qualify as worse than fultz at this point, right?

jabari parker is out of the league, and was basically out of the league three years ago. i guess he scored 20ppg once, though.

    jahlil okafor: classic bust.

i'd say lonzo isn't quite like those guys, and that yes, the injury distinction matters. lonzo was a very meh 2nd overall pick, though, injuries aside. he probably performed near expected value--you'd expect to get a guy good enough to start on a playoff team within a couple years if you're drafting in the top 5.

Mostly because I think Fultz injury is in his head. And to me -- not being able to withstand the grind, mentally, is the definition of a bust.

Gotcha. I think a) that makes sense, but also b) fans are too hard on players who (might) have legitimate mental illnesses. We don't know what's going on with players, but I get the urge to speculate to the best of our ability and to the extent that we have evidence.
