https://www.nba.com/lakers/news/180608developing-lakers-young-core Quotes like that make me wonder why some of you are so eager to ship him out. Because of a dumb song? A loud dad? The kid has born talents that not many people on this planet have. If we can trade him for a superteam, I'm in, but otherwise I don't have any desire to trade this kid so some room exception level player can start here just because Lonzo's dad is annoying.
The one thing I really want him to focus on this summer is his drive and finish. I don't know whether it was a fear of physicality or not being able to make his free throws if he got fouled, but he needs to be able to attack the rim and finish. He has the athleticism, he has a good first step, but he always seems too passive when he gets into the paint and shies away from contact. The shot will be there, but the aggressiveness towards the rim is what is going to open the floor for the rest of the team and his shot.
I certainly don't want him gone but some of the reports of Magic having finally had it with LaVar attacking the organization and threatening to not resign Lonzo if his other 2 boys aren't taken by the team .... with Zo not helping at all to shut that kind of stuff down, plus of him being shopped .... don't sound good for his future here. Hopefully the two of them are seeing these same reports and are motivated to modify the behavior if they want him to remain a Laker.
if leonards makes it to clev n it helps retain james, we should see if dmc is diwn to come for a 1+1 prove it deal, team opt of course n then dump deng to retain randle....if leonard is still availble we can use randle as trade chip
Lonzo stays. We need the ball to move in Luke's offense and that is precisely what Lonzo does at the highest level. He'd be an outstanding complementary point guard to Lebron because the ball doesn't stick with him. He's also adept at playing off ball which he did exceptionally well at UCLA. He's high IQ, low usage, a superb passer and makes others better around him. Forget the off court nonsense. The only guy I'd be tempted to trade Ball for is Lillard because he's further along in his development and he's an absolute killer. But I'd still argue that Lonzo is a better fit for what we are trying to do. He just needs more time.
He may need more time; we will see how it plays out...I need the Zo that torched SAS in Texas and dragged us to victory. That's the Zo I need and want...
I've said it before, but as much as I love Kuz and Ingram's game there isn't a more perfect player to play along side any super talent players than Lonzo due to his low usage, not needing the ball in his hand play. Those defensive instinct too while playing off back, just amazing. I enjoy the players and talents of Kuz and Ingram more than Lonzo but Lonzo is by far the better fit long term with any super team whether I want to admit it or not. I'd still prefer as of today that we just go after PG/Lebron and keep Randle and core together.
Only posting this because it does look like he's gotten a little bit bigger in the arms and shoulders
He's got such an immature looking body. He'll need time and patience on the filling out. Lots of time left this summer though to get stronger.
Didn’t he tell his dad he was only getting the one tattoo in support of his brother or something like that?
Yeah he had the balls to get a huge maybe even not the best looking of tattoos right where it's in your face in defiance of the old man (yeah in support of brother, but that big? ... so that's kind of a good sign at least. Just get him to act like a normal proud father of an NBA player on one of the premier teams in the league in your home town .... and STFU with all the attacking and ultimatum crap toward the organization.
Out of curiosity, for all those that see Lonzo as having star potential, any idea why teams have little to no interest in trading for him? Example; Spurs have zero interest. Is this all Lavar? I personally see Lonzo making a huge impact towards winning on any team, he does all the right things needed to win games, defend, rebound, distribute smartly, move the ball, low turnovers and other intangibles. I wouldn't have any issues trading for him apart from his terrible shooting woes - his dad wouldn't put me off.
If those rumors are even true, yes, it’s probably %80-%90 Lavar, the rest being his early injury bug. The Spurs want no part of the Lavar circus I’m sure. Pop doesn’t want to be hearing from some jacka** about how he’s coaching his son wrong, how their training staff sucks, and how Zo won’t re-sign if the Spurs don’t draft his brohers. It’s a nightmare that doesn’t stop.
This 100%. It's a style difference. Lonzo the player fits in perfectly with San Antonio. Lonzo the entity including his father dont match even a little.
Damn, that UCLA Health practice center is state of the art. They managed to get an ocean installation with beach and palm trees to match next to the practice court. Dope! I'd practice/train all day with that type of view. Good to see the young buck putting in that work after that prp treatment. Shiiit...you can alter the court lights to create a club atmosphere too! And that song is the realest to shoot FTs to. The practice facility is lit! #Zo'sLeftStrokeJustRaisedHisFT%tiiiyal
