On a night when Lonzo was waaaay off on his shot, he still found ways to impact the game. I think this was one of those "I want to set the world on fire" games that young guys have that sometimes just don't work out. Still had 7 assists. LeBron showed him some of those vet ropes on the block. Same move two or three times. That's alright rook. Good that he kept his head up. The kid's confidence is impressive.
Billups kept saying "where's the help?" and called out Lopez. He and Kuzma were not in awe of James in the low block. James just overpowered Ball in the first score and went around him like a street cone on the second.
That veteran footwork was on full display as was the forearm in the chest. Lonzo just doesn't have it in his back pocket to deal with LeBron, but few have over the last decade. The guy is a ridiculous physical monster (week long Miami trips indeed). Lonzo will continue to grow and develop and eventually won't be so easy a target on those switches. Already, he's pretty good. Billups was right too there was no reason for help to be so late.
One of the few players I have ever seen that misses a dunk like that and instead of feeling sorry for themselves hustles and dives over the oppenents bench to try and save if. Loved the hustle. No worries Zo, everyone misses a dunk in their careers. Except for Josh Hart (see his tweet)
Another poor shooting display from Zo. Those last two free throws were even more telling about his confidence. Seems his knee injury is affecting his shot coming back. I don’t think he’s 100% right now, he may be forcing playing.
He did shoot terribly, but you have to like that it doesn’t hurt his defense and effort in other areas. He had an awesome block, he had 9 boards, 8 assists, and a HUGE late 3.
...read Murray's comments about competitiveness. Really? Being competitive is one thing, being an on court buffoon by showing up your opponent is another. Idiot! The latter is the kind of crap that would have someone on their back in the playgrounds.
Classic ZO. The way he impacts the game without scoring is amazing. After years of sucking donkey balls, future finally looks bright
even with the putrid shooting, i kept wanting him back on the floor. has a real knack for making timely defensive plays.
Awful shooting but almost a double double with assists and rebounds. Let's not forget the 4 steals and 2 blocks too. That chase down block was awesome.
He is always digging at the ball somehow. The guy is all over the place defensively. He think he might always struggle with smaller, quicker guards, but he has the length and athleticism to still affect their shots. As a help defender though, the kid is effing brilliant. He just makes winning plays all the time.
I just find it odd that he settles for jumpers so often. He's quick, he can handle the ball, he should be able to get to the rim pretty effectively. I know he tends to look for the pass after getting a pick, but he needs to turn the corner sometimes and look to attack. It'll open up his passing game when they have to worry about his drives. I don't mind him shooting, but seeing some easy ones go in will help his confidence. One thing I do notice is that he tends to show the ball a lot when he goes up and it gets blocked a lot, rather than going with his body to protect the ball, or going aggressively to draw a foul.
