it's clear svtzr cares more about what's happened than what can happen, and that's ok. we have a few test cases this year that should be fun to track. i'll be willing to admit i'm wrong if the data support the opposite assertion. for example, if danuel house or tj warren or otto porter have a great year providing exactly the thing we're missing while walker languishes, i'll join the hand-wringing. i just think condemning it out of hand isn't appropriate. further, i'll argue that we don't know what the FO and the free agents themselves prioritized. none of those guys can start here based on what i'm seeing (i think we're playing AD at pf and lebron at sf to start games), maybe they can start where they go. opj's wife is apparently from toronto. we might have been firm on one-year contracts because our books are largely clean next year. lots of variables that the twitter commentators didn't take into account, imo.
I’m just trying to look at the probability of things. For example, Lonnie Walker was under a great coach who tries to develop the fundamentals of his players and rewards those who play the right way. Murray became a great defender, but Lonnie didn’t. Why? I don’t know whether a new coaching staff is the elixir, the probabilities are quite low. Another example, Lonnie Walker shot roughly 40% from 3 for a full season. But his attempts were only 1.7. The following two seasons at 5 attempts he shot 35% and then 31%. So maybe the 40% was the aberration and two seasons of high attempts show he isn’t a great shooter from 3. He is good at the FT line though, so maybe that can improve. So I’d say it’s an okay probability. I’m really curious to see what niche Lonnie fills. He isn’t a shot creator, a playmaker, a great shooter, a defender. He reminds me a bit of Wes Johnson.
Wes Johnson had incredible athleticism, he just couldn’t put it together. Lonnie has similar type of athleticism.
Dunks is all I ask, momentum changing dunks, dunks from steals, dunks from dunker position, game winning dunks, etc etc
LOL still can’t get over that they outlawed them for the college game because of you can you? And then after you moved to the pros allowed em again. No wonder you want them so much now …. so bitter still.
Forgot his video. Same with Westbrick. If the dude can't play D, bench him. And he needs to shoot better.
We will see with him. He will have an opportunity to show he was worth it and hopefully he seizes it.
Kam brothers had the host of Locked on Spurs on their podcast today to discuss Walker. Not flattering at all. Best way he put it several times, it's a roller coaster ride with him.
i really think he's just a klutch client who would take a one-year prove-it deal. and he's a really unique talent should he put it together. if not, at least you're not handcuffed. i'm still just not super upset about who we missed out on. the guy we needed wasn't out there for this money.
my concern is why are we still doing these 1yrs deals? feels like this is the case almost every yr since ad/bron era and as you stated hes klutch so he was willing to do this prove it deal and if does prove it it'll be at our expense ala monk, oke at what pt is Rob going to actually build a "sustainable" team?
that's what the three max plan does. there's no room for multiple long-term deals. and nobody impactful is signing for multiple years at the mini mle or vet min. we had the right idea two years ago, and i think rob knew it. but until the lebron era's over, i think we're going the mercenary route to fill out the roster. and no, i don't like it, either. it's why i've advocated over and over for trying to move russ for 3 players instead of another big fish. this is the path to continuity, ultimately. again, the clippers get it.
I don’t love this signing, but with the smoke cleared of free agency you have to understand it. Tampering happens, which means we had to have contacted Porter Jr and all our other targets and were told they weren’t interested, so we took a flyer on the next guy down the list. It’s sucks, but we clearly aren’t a desirable destination right now, there’s no Markeiff Morris taking the minimum to come in to try to win a ring, bell there wasn’t even a Melo, we aren’t a title team right now. So instead we did another KCP type deal, Klutch runs the team so we got a Klutch guy. I don’t have high hopes, but I get it, this is his chance to show if his potential can evolve into results. What I don’t love is that right now going off shooting percentages of signed players, we’re the worst in the NBA as a team…. Have to fix that or we aren’t winning a thing.
btw, i'll add that we're not the only team that has favored agency relations. it's sort of a well-kept secret that certain teams and agencies get along and certain ones don't. i think when the mavs traded for luka it was somewhat surprising because they had a long-standing beef with bill duffy, such that they basically never worked with him and vice versa. the kcp stuff was our pipeline to lebron. i just hope we have good relations with more than one agency and don't have any mavs/bill duffy stuff. we have enough problems in that at least a few teams basically won't deal with us unless they're killing us.
