THT has to be gone with this signing: THT for all his trouble was still a much better player/potential than Walker. You can't have two 6'4 guys with long wingspans who can't shoot and are raw on offense on the same team
This is a flat out bad signing. Look at Cranjis's analysis on him and that's all you need to do. Signing gets an F from me. Can't shoot, and aparently the one thing I thought he coudl do (defend), he can't do either. Rob is off to a horrible start and hopefully he pulls Kyrie/KD or at least one of them to redeem himself
Weird one. But let's give the guy the opportunity to show off. We have a new coach and culture, maybe he fits that. But it's not exciting for sure
mgmt still playing the 1 yr contract crap, how they suppose to build any continuity when every yr half the team becomes a fa...this signing and russ being back, feel like season is over before it even started
I mean he's a terrible fit next to Westbrook. THT was a bad fit next to Brick and Walker is even worse. This signing makes no sense across the board unless they are confident a trade is happening. Seriously you lose your one reliable guard shooter in Monk and what are we doing here pretending to be the Riley Knicks team and bludgeon people with a backcourt that is theoretically physical but can't shoot a lick. Just can't think even Jeannie and her cadre of ex Laker confidants would sign off on this without some other moves pre-planned
Yeah I don’t understand this one at all. Wish we could have talked Monk into staying. This looks like a fail.
yeah, i'd have preferred house, for example. i just think our top targets weren't coming, so they went with klutch appeasement. best i can figure.
anyway: it's funny, don't know if it's the uniform, but his catch and shoot three looks a bit like danny green's. for those worried about size, he's functionally bigger than say, gary trent, who was a popular wing target here. about kcp's size. ham will have to earn his salary to get him to defend, because the tools are there.
yeah, he's a high upside gamble. he had a bad year from three last year but was 36% on 4.5 attempts per the year before and 40% on lower volume the two years before that. he's nearly an 80% ft shooter, and his form isn't bad. i think he can make shots for us. the defense is another issue--though he's been better than monk throughout their respective careers. i don't like it because it prevents us from developing any continuity or rolling up assets in trades like the clippers have done to form megawing bonanza. on the other hand, if we get a rep for rehabs that net the players money, one could argue that having a rotating guy playing way over his salary level is a good thing.
Yah watching him on the one long clip late yesterday it struck me that he like Monk was pretty athletic but no one seemed to be talking about it.
The Spurs aren't very good. His usage was second behind Murray's which is way too high. He needs a defined role and with LBJ and AD getting all the attention, it should create opportunities for him. Attack the rim, be ferocious in transition, and hit your open shots. Defensively? Let's hope he can just be average. LOL.
he's very athletic and has good size for a sg. he's a good monk replacement, imo. but most here didn't want that, which i understand. i just, again, don't think the big wing defender was out there for what we had. what did porter get from toronto?
