Can someone go back and see the teams Lebron has had to face in the playoffs the last couple seasons. It would probably be mind boggling. All those cake walk rounds yet still 2/5.

Ring or bust? Nah, if they don't win they'll blame Lebron's teammates and their lack of playoff experience. "He did all he could, the guys had no experience, it takes a year of failure first like in Miami" blah blah blah. I'm good with all that BS as long as they don't win.

And should have been 1/5 due to LeBron's disappearing act early in that 1st San Antonio series and then Spurs coughing it up at the end.

Yep, a lot of people don't realize how easily it could have been 1/5. One 4th quarter Manu choke job.

Or you could say one Ray Allen 3 from 1 of 5. One more reason to hate Ray Allen.

The Bron jockers/"journalists" already covered their tracks and just in case Bron doesn't win a ring. They've already found their scapegoats -- Love and Blatt. Bron had to cover for a teammate who didn't want to be there, had a bad attitude, was always hurt, never bought in, etc. Then he had to coach the team, deal with an incompetent coach, prevent the players from mutiany against Blatt, he was the only reason Lue didn't replace Blatt mid-season...I can hear it now.

So when Lebron wins its about how amazing he is and how he makes his teammates better. If he loses its because his teammates didn't buy into what he's all about.
When Kobe wins, which happens at a better percentage (Finals), he couldn't have done it without _____. If he loses its because he shot too much or he wasn't good enough. BS is what that is.

OK as Lebron has successful fought through the amazing East while carrying a team of injured stars and nobody's it seems a good time to pose another question.

The other day I got into a discussion about MJ (with an MJ fan) after some discussion I came to my usual point of MJ's legacy after he retired is greater than his actual legacy. Not to take away from the amazingness of MJ but the media made his untouchable status years after he no longer played. This was helped along by a cocky kid who wore #8 for the Lakers. The better Kobe got the higher MJ's legacy was placed. Up until a few years ago it would be safer to slap your mother in front of your father and all her brothers than it would speak on MJ or someone even being on his planet. Lebron, on the other hand, has been given God-like status since coming into the league. We celebrate his achievement before he ever won a championship. Media has already chosen to be selective on how they criticize him. We never hear about not showing up in most big game, passing on shots when the game is on the line and being in that abomination of a conference. Which brings me to my question, How will the media/fans reflect on his career when it is all sad and done? Will he get the anti-MJ and have the media turn on his accomplishments?

And this is exactly what has brought my thought... Lebron has not played the like the best player in the world and neither has his team played that great. Beating up on injured teams in a garbage conference shouldn't get exclamations like this, should it?

    Stephen A Smith ✔ @stephenasmith
.@KingJames is the BEST player in the world & has played like it the entire playoffs.

Doubt it. Every time he passes a legend/great statistically during the playoffs I die a little inside. Cause 10-20 years from now no one will remember he went 1-100 from 3s in the playoffs (slight exaggeration) or that DJ has a better record at the line than Bron has in the NBA finals. in 20 years, he'll be on Mt Rushmore, on one of the dollar bills, and his face might even be put on the statue of liberty.

5 straight finals is impressive, no question. There's no denying it.

With that said, you must take into account the competition. Granted I've only watched the NBA consistently for about a decade now but this is by a HUGE margin the worst group of teams representing a conference that I've ever seen. So far he's played the C-bags, a Bulls team that was never fully healthy all season long, and the most bogus number one seeded team in the Hawks (their second half record proved that). He could've sat out the C Bags series and they would've won anyway.

Congratulations, great job LeBron, but please. I bet Chris Paul wished he played in the East. Guaranteed Finals appearance basically.

I will say one thing in praise of him, 5 straight Finals is impressive no matter what. The fatigue factor alone should prevent that in today's game, and teams he's on do immediately turn around and win, he is great, there is no denying that.

That said, the East is a joke, the #1 seed got swept, that's pathetic. I've said it before and I'll say it again, LeBron couldn't have come into his prime at a better time, he's possibly the luckiest star ever in that regard. No competition, never had to face a prime Kobe team, never had a real rival (unless you want to count an old Paul Pierce), and has had a cakewalk through the East almost every playoffs he's played in.

When there was real competition in that great C Bags team, he lost. Had he faced that team for years in the playoffs in their primes I expect he'd have lost more too. And when he gets to real competition in the West in the Finals he usually loses as well. Getting there is impressive, but I'm sorry, the competition is pathetic, and he's one Ray Allen 3 away from being 1 for 5 in the Finals. And if the Cavs go on here to lose this Finals and he's 2 for 6, you can't say he's the best ever, or better than Jordan or Kobe. He's great, he's an all time great, his game is extremely versatile and he turns teams into winners, but championships do matter.

It's true he had not much help in his first Cleveland years, and it's true he's playing without one star now and one injured and a lot of cast-offs, so I give him credit for still getting it done, but the greatest basketball player to ever play stuff is getting out of hand. ONE of, sure, but THE best to me is insulting to MJ, Magic, Kareem, Bird, Kobe, Russell, Wilt, and others. Just like puffy said in that MJ's legacy turned into mythical, God-like status years after that fact, IMO LeBron's is being a little overblown in the moment. He IS great, but the media love to ignore his bad games and pretend like he never has them and that he can do no wrong, while giving little credit to his teammates that are doing quite a lot. Most of them aren't stars, but I would not say LeBron is carrying this team on his back, they are doing their part and holding their own. I'll end this by simply saying, "Go Warriors!", I want another LeBron Finals loss, badly.

If Jordan and those Bulls played against the Eastern conference of the last decade, they'd have made the Finals every season.

It really strikes me as odd that the competition is NEVER mentioned when it comes to Lebron. They are like "he makes teams better" but then negate to say he stayed in the same weak*** conference. So one team lost an allworld player while the other got it. The team he left went to sucking and the team he went to became great. If we look at it he went to the better opportunity each time instead of keeping his "ship" up. He bailed on Cle when it no longer looked like they could buy the pieces he wanted to put around him. Then when the shine in Miami was starting to fall and he would have to step up and really carry the team....bailed again to a team with 3 #1 picks that traded away for a great statistical outside guy in Love. Miami fell and all of a sudden Cle is great. It really seems like its the old "don't talk about that" thing in the movies. That is why I think he may suffer the opposite of MJ as people feel free to no longer follow company line and promote this guy at every turn as "the greatest player in the world" every time he does something on or off the court.

Any team lead by any of the greats would do what LeBron has done. Shaq, Kobe, Jordan, Hakeem, Kareem, Magic, Bird... I mean guys like Stockton/Malone, Chuck, Webber...

James went to The Finals before Detroit and that team in the Northeastern seaboard re-tooled. He started going again with Wade and Bosh once those teams he couldn't get past aged.
