I'd imagine Lonzo's going to be hearing a lot of smack about them himself next season and everything else his old man's been running his mouth about this year. Thanks Pops.

I do too. Part of this is very cool. I'm all about an individual trying to empower themselves and the idea of a player trying to buck the trend and earn as much as they can is interesting. Many professional athletes in the NBA and NFL are wealthy, but their wealth has defined limits on it. If you're a rookie you only get this much. If you've got a shoe deal they start at this much and only go as high as that much.

I get what they're doing and in some ways I like it. However, at that price? No thank you. Not to mention, Lonzo hasn't done anything yet. This is a very millennial mentality: putting the horse before the cart (yes I recognize the irony of an old-time saying after the word millennial). The reason the barriers in money making exist is because companies want proof that you're worth more. Look at LeBron, Kobe, Jordan. They transcended the limits because of what they brought to the game and thus how much people were willing to spend on their brands. With Lonzo not even winning the NCAA title, let alone playing a second of NBA ball, why should anyone want to spend that much? The recent generations want to be recognized as special and individual before they've done anything to make them special or individual. This is an embodiment of that.

Let's see Lonzo do something in the NBA. I guarantee you if he takes his team to the Finals as a rookie, there'll be a market for people to snatch these shoes up.

Kanye never played a lick of ball professionally, and he sold sneakers. Never know until you try. If Lonzo goes to the Lakers, get ready for a fire storm. All the talentless media f***s will finally have the perfect story every day during the NBA season. It will be so heavy, Lebron's sensitive p**** a** will get jealous all the attention is leaving him.

But Kanye already had his following. Lonzo doesn't yet. That's my point. I agree on the Lakers part though.

I'm stuck between rooting for some success or a massive failure, but I have determined that my personal dollars won't play a role in either scenario.

Worst marketing phrase ever. Patrick Ewing wants his title back for saying the strategically stupidest thing ever.

I made the Kanye West comparison, but it's what he's going for. He's trying to be an exclusive brand, but he has nothing to stand on...

    I'll show myself out.
