so far, he's cost his first son more money than he might make in his career.

    https://sports.yahoo.com/news/inside-lonzo-balls-pursuit-unprecedented-shoe-deal-161401523.html

More info on the shoe front.

Turns out most companies haven't called it dead. The reality is most kids aren't handed shoe deals before the lottery. The amount will change drastically depending on where he ends up going. If Ball ends up in Orlando or Sacramento, I'm guessing he's going to get a low offer from Adidas.

Lavar has hurt his son's pocket, but the damage isn't irreversible yet.

I'm conflicted because it's really well done with the marketing video. Hate seeing the dad's mug as much as we are going to see it and hear him going forward but can't not be happy for the kid. Well the price .... I'm going to guess it will sell enough to make nice money for them IF Lonzo can deliver next year. They may be able to catch lightning in a bottle if he's all that, and when he fills out physically maybe he is even more special, then it could be a home run for some demographic. Not being a baller sneaker aficionado, what do you guys who have opinions in this area think of the design? It better be well made to take the abuse for that kind of money obviously. I do kind of very much appreciate cleaner designs like this without neon looks to footwear.

Personally, I think the shoe looks fine. It definitely skates close to Nike's designs and I'm sure that's not an accident.

BUT... at that price? Hell no. What is he Kanye West? I generally don't buy new sneakers by these athletes because they're already too expensive at HALF the price these BBB shoes are selling for. There's not a chance in hell I pay that much for a shoe that's not made from fine Italian leather. Even then I better know the Italian who stitched that shoe.

It looks EXACTLY like the and1's i used to wear 12-14 years ago. I mean, it's the exact same shoe. Still, a cool looking project... jumpshot, not so much :D

I don't even buy the shoes that are half that price. First the $50 shirts with designs/logos made by a middle schooler and now this. GTFO

Ima just say it. If you buy those shoes at that price, not only are you not cool, you're a fool. Wow, what a dummy.

Can you imagine some kid wearing these or any BBB brand stuff playing pick up at the park? He'll get picked last and then bagged on the entire game.

All this for a kid who played one year of college. Solid, but not spectacular.

Free markets always adjust to what works. Lavar is trying to be special and break all the rules, but he will fail miserably. I don't wish that on someone, but do you really think you know the business better than Nike, Adidas, and others? You can be buy (3) + Kyrie's shoes for less than one of these, and he's an NBA superstar.
