sad to see jerry speak of the lakers that way. but in the end, joke's on him since that "sh*tshow" just won a title. jerry's not going out very gracefully

there were definitely some sketchy things going in with the way the clips landed kawhi but there's really nothing the league can do aside from a big fine and taking picks away

Pickless until 2030 would be kind of like bomb them back to the Stone Age. Too harsh? JK. But "more" picks taken away would serve them right. Not going to have much in trade assets as Snake and Paula age.

Is it time for Lakers Fans and FO to disown this guy? Loved West my whole life but he has certainly burned that bridge. I painfully announce that I am done with him. Remove his jersey, remove his statue. F West!

I will always have a soft spot for Elgin Baylor and Jerry West despite having associations with the tenants because of what they have done for our beloved franchise. Logo made those statements prior to the Lakers' championship-winning season, while it wasn't entirely true, it wasn't entirely false either. I would like to think he was referring to the Jimbo-era and was just saying it because of his employer to an end, landing Kawhi, and Jimbo is in fact, a buffoon for running the franchise like a crapshow.

I hope you change your mind because someone/something caused him to leave for Memphis in the early 2000s and was not able to come home after some success with Golden State. It is both sad and infuriating to see him connected with that daft abonimation called the Clippers.

The franchise backed Phil over Jerry West, and it was the beginning of the end.

Left hurt and bitter, and it shows. It's a shame. He's the Logo.

    and he wasn't lying

It's just that we've turned it around.

Well said. He’s not fully wrong in saying what he said. We had the whole Magic fiasco, where he quit and essentially called out Rob. Questions were raised about Rob and especially the FO after we couldn’t get Lue and hired Vogel. And then there the whole Linda and Kurt Rambis having a ton of power in the organization.

I can’t necessarily blame him since he’s doing his job trying to do the best for his employer, albeit, by sketchy means. I’m sure other teams use friends, third party people to coerce players.

It doesn’t impact my opinion of what he did for the Lakers. Magic did bad things in that management role, but since we won, that sure healed everything!

It seems like it was said last year. Hmmm, the Jimbo era sucked and he pretty much ran us into the ground. I just feel like West has made it personal with the Lakers. Jerry Buss felt like West was a bad fit and that he had too many problems dealing with the the pressures and dealing with Jeannie and Phil. We all know that West could not handle Jeannie having a relationship with Phil. He made a deal out of it and lost the battle. I don't think Jeannie was ever very fond of him because of it. I can deal with all of that, I can even deal with him not respecting how our FO was operating over that stretch. But the fact that he could see us making the changes we were making and bringing in the people we brought in, and to still make such a disrespectful comment. I will remember this. He had risen to the top of the competition I would most like to beat list. There are other guys who were upset about the way they were treated by the Lakers during the Jimbo era. Shaw was one and I know there were at least a few others. But most of the others have moved on and they know we have changed. They are not out there still taking shots at our team. The fact that West still is just makes me realize he is the enemy. Full stop.

Jerry West for years has tried to bury the Lakers franchise. These new developments aren’t surprising to me at all.

Damn. Mr. West played the GM gig just a season too long. I don't hate him for what he said, things were shaky back then and the Lakers had just let his son go. He probably did know some things. But one year later, this whole episode has played out in the worst way possible for him.

That article is just support of the old narrative, find an angle that makes the team look bad and swear by it as the truth. I always thought that Jesse Buss was very involved with all these draft picks too???? Honestly, if I was Jeannie, I would wash my hands of the West family all together, just too much baggage.

Looks like this might be some Laker fans relationship with Jerry West going forward.

My thought of the day, if this allegation really hits the fan and becomes fact could this be provide the impetus to take Jerry West of the NBA logo and put Kobe Bean Bryant in as the logo?

My feelings, is that Jerry West did a lot as a Laker and beyond for us and as an exec. I won't be wiping him of any Laker lists but it is a shame that business relationships have to sour the sanctity of sporting relationships. Also I can't help fell that Riley has done twice as many shady things and been applauded for them. We can't all be like the Last Boy Scout Mitch "do it, sign Deng no don't do it" Kupchak.
