My guess, if it’s true, is that’s their only option to improve. They traded all those picks for PG, the only players they can really trade outside of PG are Lou, Beverly, Shamet, Zubac, and Green, and it would take a package of probably 3 of those guys to get anyone worth trading for to improve them. With their free agents situation even a trade involving a few of those guys and not retaining others like Harrell, Harkless, and Morris is basically blowing it up considering that’s a lot of the roster that people were so high on 2 seasons ago that Kawhi came to join. I could easily see them trying to trade PG to improve instead of half the roster though, I’m sure Ballmer wants to keep Kawhi happy, but he also wants to win, and PG...well, doesn’t seem like a winner going off a lot of evidence at this point.

Yes. Start with a whole bunch of new guys around Snake or around Snake and Wayoff P and a new coach who never won a game in 17 tries (I believe) over 3 seasons without LeBron in the lineup .... and let’s watch the contortions of ESPN drones this year trying to favor them for the title again. Oh and yes ...... the all convincing I’m sure next billboard campaign.

The Clips have that 2010s Knicks vibe about them but have Lee Jenkins to line NBA journalists pocket up for better PR releases.

So, when we play against the Clippers during the Lue era. Who do you think will be the smarter team at understanding and exploiting each teams tendencies? The Lue led Clippers or the Lebron led Lakers? Which guy is smarter and can outwit the other?

Adding to the glorious cluster **** that is the Clippers today in real time.... is Shaq weighing in.

    https://www.yahoo.com/sports/shaq-says-clippers-trade-paul-194256317.html

Honestly a couple good or really good players for Paula, IMO, doesn't fix this. You need 2 superstars to contend now. And calcifying Clippersnake himself is already a compromised superstar. He is the epitome now of "Be careful what you wish for". Got the Big Head and wanted to be The Man with his own team, and picked a second (star) (certainly not a superstar) as his running mate in Way off P. PLUS he is not a charismatic leader and has a real problem further in that regard if he's being treated differently than others. Zubac is a decent journeyman Big at this point in his career and certainly not a force down low.

No way in hell does Snake seem capable to now be the man and put that blown up team with a new coach on his shoulders .... again in my opinion.

i said at the time how puzzled i was that he'd forego the possibility the lakers offered: his load management would have been possible here. it's not there. he's seen it, and so have they.

    anyway, eat it, uncle dennis.

I hope the Slippers have a similar downfall next year and the team explodes apart. That will be the sweetest thing ever!

The enormity of the failure of Leonard and George and Rivers is just sinking in to me really. They no longer have any assurance of being as good as they were "supposed to be" this year.

    So good!!!

So far not much has changed. ESPN already put them at 2 in their post Finals power rankings. Ahead of the Heat who made the Finals and have money to get better, ahead of the Nuggets who beat them, so yeah.. Their reasoning is nonsensical too, they just put them 2nd while saying they’ll have trouble improving the roster and I guess implying Lue>Doc even though Lue was on the coaching staff already last season.

Yeah, them being 2nd totally adds up :Crazyartest:

lou williams is a year older and harrell is pissed and looking for a payday. those were really the only consistently good players on the roster aside from their two stars. never understood the depth argument there. they were like us--top heavy.

and lue being so much better than rivers is a weird proposition, i agree. where's the evidence for this?

    which is san diego!
