I woke up this morning feeling rather apathetic about this whole thing. If it happens it happens, I don't care at this point. I'm not married to any style of rebuilding, and I don't want to build a farm system here as well. Do what you do, Mitch.

These talks could literally be weeks old. The whole situation is a mess, and now that word has gotten out it's that much less likely to happen. If the Kings truly want veterans ready to win now that means LAL have to find a 3rd team willing to give up those pieces for 2, and there is always the possibility that the 3rd team decides they would rather have Cousins than 2 and just does the deal themselves.

A trade with 2 teams is tough to pull off, 3 teams though-especially when major assets like 2 and Cousins are being thrown around- are insanely difficult.

Yeah the more we hear about it, the less I find it likely to happen. This is all just buzz to get things going through a typically slow media week.

I still think the smart money is on the Lakers taking Okafor and not looking back at Cousins.

And in 3 years everyone will be wondering why the Lakers even considered it.

Any specific deal that gets leaked doesn't happen. The only exception to that was the whole Dwight fiasco. It turned into a public spectacle. However, even during the part of the deal that resulted in Dwight coming to Los Angeles; there was about a week of silence and didn't get reported until the deal was also almost done. This has a chance to go that direction. Sacramento is going to have a circus, and I'm looking forward to it. Give him hell, DeMarcus.

Not always true. An example would be Kevin Love and Wiggin last year. There were speculations for over weeks and both team denied. It eventually happened anyway. Where there's smoke, there's fire.

Lakers don't leak anything. Historically, the Lakers work in the shadows. We don't know want's going on until the deal is almost completed. All 'leaks' usually come from the other team.

seems like karl is the only really pushing for sacramento to do this, divac and ranadieve want nothing to do with it. not surprising as he's an old school type coach and characters like cousins are nothing but a headache for him

unless this situation actually works in our favor and ranadieve is forced to deal cousins to please karl and agrees to a lesser package. if mitch can dust off the old wand and somehow acquire cousins without giving up #2 and clarkson then i'm all for it. but the likeliness of that happening i would assume are slim to none

Yeah you're both right. A lot of times where there's smoke there's fire, but the Lakers typically keep things under wraps. Most "leaked" Lakers stuff comes out weeks or even months after the fact.

In this case it looks more like Cousins and Karl are coming to a head and it's time for them to move on. Some of the last trade talks were probably with us a while back and the media finally got their hands on it.

Something tells me Ole George ain't going to be too popular with having forced Boogie out of town and no improvement on last year's play, if that even, when Cousins was healthy. I'd imagine this scenario wasn't in his job interview. I don't like George. Maybe it's just his face as someone else said last year. [IMG]

My feeling about this hasn't changed a whole lot since this was talked about some time ago as a hypothetical. It is pretty crazy to see it actually becoming a real possibility though, I have to say. I said then that with a guy as good potentially as Cousins you'd have to consider it, but at the end of the day I'd rather stick with what we have in the number two pick.

I think Cousins is the most talented C in the league hands down. He's got incredible talent. But his head isn't screwed on right. I hate to play arm chair psychiatrist but most of what I see out of him seems to stem from anger issues. I don't think LA is the right place for him to come with the mental baggage he has, honestly. If he comes here the expectations for him only go up exponentially and I don't see that he's ready to handle it at all. LA's a pressure cooker and you can see by the way that he's lashing back out at Karl that he's not in a place emotionally/psychologically to conduct himself with the professionalism that we are used to and expect.

There's no way I would pass on a guy like Okafor when all is said and done. It's more than just his game that reminds me of Tim Duncan, it's also his demeanor. I want to rebuild with guys like him and Randle and Clarkson. Positive guys who bring a professional attitude and winner's mentality to the game.

I'm looking forward to Thursday and I hope we just stick to the script. Get what looks to be the best post centered 5 in the draft that we can build on moving ahead. Okafor may not have the sheer raw talent or versatility of Cousins, but he's got phenomenal post moves and he's got a great mind and attitude for the game.

Maybe this is already well known, but the speculation right now is that this whole thing is coming from Cousins' camp.

That's what Windhorst reported the other day. He said that Cousins has 'privately' asked for a trade. He expressed interest in going to Los Angeles.

Turns out if we get Cousins, we have to sign this guy, or no deal.

Damn, George is a tough negotiator.....

Julius + 27 + 34 and switch picks... that's the absolute most I'd give up for this guy. That'd allow us to keep Clarkson and still get a talented rookie to form our young core.

So we haven't learned our lesson yet? Jesus, we are in a good position already, we are about to have an excellent trio of young guys. Why give that up? We aren't winning a title with cousins/Kobe. It's not gonna happen. Get over it. We gambled already, and we lost. Are we really going for it again?

Please tell me these are just rumors and there is no basis for these rumors...
