    Love this trade!

Set up the C Bags for a good stomping in 2019 finals when we have PG and LLLLLabron.

We tie the C Bags championships against the C Bags.

    It was meant to be!!!

I like your attitudes. You've swayed me, I'm in! Lakers vs C Bags the next generation. The lesser generation, but still.

Am I wrong in thinking this was a fair trade? People are freaking out and saying Boston got fleeced.

Who is saying Boston got fleeced..?
Kyrie is younger & stronger, scored more ppg than IT in the Playoffs while on a team with 2 other All-Stars & is just as good of a closer as IT... I love Thomas, but would take Kyrie any Day.

Seems like the most fair trade of the offseason to me. Compared to the Jimmy Butler and Chris Paul trades this is actually a great deal. Boston gets Irving for at least 2 years, Cleveland gets Thomas, Crowder, and what will likely be a top 5 draft pick. That's not a bunch of role players and a late 1st, Thomas was a top 5 MVP candidate last season, and Irving has become of the best payers in the league the last few seasons.

This definitely makes sense for Cleveland...
Gives them more flexibility for when/if LeBron leaves & keeps them as the Team to beat in the East.

Cavs easily won this trade short term , there isn't a huge difference between Irving and Thomas and they get one of the better contracts in the league in Crowder , plus the Nets pick .

Long term wise Irving isn't a great feat in Stevens system (neither was IT)

so you got a guy like Lebron who wants the ball in his hands, and you have a former MVP PG in Rose, and a PG in IT.

    and great defense from Crowder?

    This should go very well.

There are a ton of aspects to this trade. Crowder + IT (granted his hip is actually OK) is an upgrade over Kyrie for the Cavs just because of how little defense they had on the wings other than Lebron. The one thing that we have to watch is that pick. If Brooklyn is doing horrible at the deadline, the Cavs can now flip that pick for a disgruntled star. Believe it or not, we need to root HARD for D'Angelo to play out of his mind for the Nets to make that pick as worthless as possible. I worry that if OKC sees the writing on the wall, and Brooklyn has one of the worst 2 records in the league, Presti (a shrewd S.O.B.) could flip PG13 for the pick. Then we might lose both LBJ and PG13 cause they stay in Cleveland with Thomas and Love.

For Boston, it will end up being a positive for them as well because Kyrie is a better overall player than IT. He's also younger and not on an expiring deal. They now have a 1-2 punch of Gordon and Kyrie which is waaaay more firepower than they had last year. The thing for the C Bags is they had a logjam of sfs. Gordon, Crowder, Brown and Tatum. Brown might be ready to replace Crowder's production as early as this year. So losing Crowder really doesn't hurt them much at all. Asset wise, they lose the trade. The net effect on their team though is a positive.

Both team's improved with this trade. The clear winner will come down to Brooklyn of all things.

In order for the Cavs to trade for PG, they'd have to match salary. Where is that coming from if all the guys you just mentioned are kept? And 3 guys at the same position in Crowder, LLLLLBJ, and PG?

You could do a Frye (expiring) and Crowder (good contract). That would bring you to 14.2, and I believe you can be within 25% to get a deal done. So then you're just talking another 2 million dollar contract to get close to PG13's 19.5 million.

    Thompson
    Love
    Lebron
    PG13
    Thomas

why does OKC do that though? Might they have better options and getting Crowder and an expiring?

I didn't think its fair, but an overpay was necessary. You dont trade stars with divional rivals unless its a big time over pay, Bos wanted IT, Clev didn't necessarily want IT so Bos had to pay the price. But I think this trade was good for both sides, Clev keeps competing and has a fail safe now if Lebron were to leave with Bk #1 pick which potentially is top 3 again (freaking moron Billy King ).....Bos now extends its window longer and Irving is a good lead star for their young guys in Tatum/Brown, they should be able to sell off Horford next year if he declines, maybe giving them chance to add a true 3rd star with Tatum/Brown flanking them.
