Hey I'm not saying it means the world for Kuz let alone for the Lakers for him to win that ROTY trophy. It certainly is the least valuable recognition NBA awards annually. But in the context of being the best in his rookie class and the potential of becoming huge, which is in line with that meaningless award, it's absolutely imperative to argue he should be in that conversation especially since the players currently in the top 3 top 5 in the running are in a position to have meaningful careers in their respective teams. You'll be hearing from my lawyer. But really what I (and @John3:16 and maybe a couple others) are also saying is that if the award was given out today, Kuz isn't winning. Sure it'd be neat if he won, but I'm not counting on it. He's basically a lock for one of the All-Rookie teams at this point. This draft class continues to be one of my favorites. I expected Ball and Tatum to be great. Simmons is a cheat code for this draft class. I've been surprised by Mitchell, Kuzma, and Markannen. This is a tremendous draft class. I'm excited to see where they go, but knowing we've got 2 of the best in the class as well as Hart and Bryant who might also be steals is just... incredible. I called this draft transformational a couple months ago and I stick by that. We've got cheap, effective depth for a good 4 years now.
