I give up on Kuzma. Inefficient volume scorer who doesn't rebound, create plays, or play above average defense. I have no idea why he just jacks up threes like he is Klay. Every time Kuz gets to the basket, someone is open for a wide open shot. I'm sick of watching him play ISO when we could just as easily get better results handing LeBron and AD the ball. It's trade season. Hopefully he can pull off a good stretch of the month and we flip him for someone who can actually provide some much needed playmaking or other intangibles.
I'll disagree. I'm still all the way with Kuz. He did jack up too many threes for sure last night. But when he's been healthy I like that he gives us another scoring option. Plus his defense has improved under Vogel and he's making the extra pass now.
No doubt Kuzma is worth the 2 million we are paying him this season. No doubt Kuzma is worth the 3.5 million we are paying him next season. But after that, how much would you all pay for him?
After that we are going to sign & trade him, so whatever the other team is willing to give him/ or whatever is necessary to match salaries. :Kuzmawhoknew:
Again, all depends on the return for a potential Kuz trade - there just isn't a lot out there right now. I'd be open to Bertans - but he's an FA after this year. I'd just rock with him the rest of this year unless you can get a real impact piece; no lateral moves.
At some point, his "slow start" will become his actual impact on this team. We're getting close to that.
no idea. if he's basically who he was last year and who he's been when healthy this year? 12-15 per. he's an above-MLE player, but nowhere close to the max. i'd go higher for shorter years, lower for longer years. but he's worth as much or more than clarkson, who i think is maybe slightly overpaid, but not by much.
Is he an above MLE player? I thought he was last year, but at this point, for this team, he might not be. Our team needs two things out of our third option: playmaking and 3 point shooting. He doesn't do either of those things particularly well. I think he is more than an MLE player for some teams, but he may not be for us.
if he's more than MLE for anyone, we should sign him at that number using bird rights. we can't afford to lose assets for nothing, especially when we should be operating over the cap now. every team with an MLE would throw the full one at him, i'm almost certain. think he's suffering from being a laker in terms of perception, just like ingram did when he was here. we can't have nice things.
i hate that that's even a thought. i mean, don't kill your flexibility to sign him or trade for him should something weird happen, but there are ways to do that other than the ways we've done so in the recent past (UGH).
he's a big man version of Crawford but less handles, dude never saw a shot he didn't like....I'd give him MLE type money, 4yrs for 50-60m, meet somewhere in the middle. Smart got somewhere around that much and he's mostly a defensive specialist, anything more than 60 I'd let him walk. At 60m max, its still a tradable contract at some pt but this also depends on how he looks in the playoffs, if hes chucking and no D than I'd look to trade him this off-season
market rate that is dictated by amount of cap money available, teams with cap space that want him, years left on his deal, amount of talent at his position, stats, analytics, etc that are up to date It's an exercise in futility to try to put a number on it right now. Makes more sense to see what he does this season before considering an extension. Even then, we may let him expire and sign him in Free Agency after going after another big dog. Never know.
Danny Green is getting 30 million for two years. LBJ and AD will be taking up close to 40 million each of the cap. Can we afford to pay 50 to 60 million for Kuz? Does one invest in KCP instead for that price? Does one save that money for Boogie/Dwight or a combination of the two? What about the point guard? I just don't see that kind of money unless the cap gets raised significantly or a long period of consistency from Kuz.
I asked you because you said you see him here long term. That implies a significant price tag... he's not signing for four years at 32 million I don't think.
stressing about the future is the job of Rob it's his stress to worry about, so while it's an interesting conversation, it's also premature and pointless Let's choose to live in this turn around season and enjoy winning for a change instead of trying to patch every hole that isn't perfect in the current situation.
