Hard to compare this early, but Horry only shot 26% as a rookie from 3, and was up and down percentage wise his entire career, he was just absolutely clutch. Rookie season he averaged 10/5/2. Those stats stayed pretty similar in the Houston years and then later dipped with us in a lesser role.

At least you didn't compare him Chris Webber or Dirk or something.

Horry was more athletic, a better finisher and a better defender. Horry would take half the regular season off though but came through in the playoffs.

I can see the similarities though.

Strategic pull the trigger deal of the off season in the NBA. Wait till we get a load of Brook and Lonzo together.

If Kuz turns into a star role player, the Dlo trade becomes a steal

It will be, if he's as good in the regular season as he's shown in summer league. Boy did I hate the trade initially. Now the trade doesn't seem so bad.

"Now the trade doesn't seem so bad."

Are we still feeling that losing D'Angelo Russell and all of his inconsistencies and up and downs with effort and the brain farts creating TOs was possibly not worth what came out of this deal?

Kuz wouldve still been there at 28, mgmt was to eager to make that move, some of it was obviously dlo fault due to his whatever issues behind close doors. If ball is making these dleague guys look servicable, imagine what he could done with dlo. I still think there was other ways to rid us of moz after this upcoming season but with kcp signing i feel less annoyed by the trade, i honestly dont think dlo was ever going to be a good defender but he definitely wouldve made ball life easier with his shooting

I don't want to beat the dead horse, but Russell's skills were undeniable. I wanted to see what he'd look like as a 2 guard running aside Lonzo. The brain farts are less of an issue if he doesnt have to be the primary ballhandler.

Kuzma's emergence takes the sting of that away, and he gives the team a different skill set at the 4.

Maybe, maybe not he was there. You're probably right but wow would hate to have missed him. The FO was dong flips as they thought he would go sooner.

But with regard to losing the Moz contract, when the entire league that hates us knows we are bent over a barrel needing to get rid of Moz. And then we don't have Lopez to certainly help improve our record this year for FA's to look at and how we play the game. Whether Lopez stays or not. No one was going to help us in crunch time to sign quote unquote two stars by taking Moz last minute.

DAR will not be as consistently a positive factor night in and night out, I believe, as Lopez will.

I too would have liked to have seen Ball with Russ, but I'm starting to think that maybe we couldn't have dumped Mozgov any other way, contract was that bad. If it were a pure salary dump I'd be wayyyyy more upset, but we got back Lopez too, and he has the potential to be our most consistent player this season. That's important when we're trying to win games and look better to free agents.

You all really assume Russell would buy in to playing Zo's style. I'm not sure he would so "willingly" just give up the idea of thinking this is his team.

Magic didn't want to even deal with that issue and shipped him out.

I don't want to derail this thread too much further, but do I think Russ would have been ok with Lonzo hitting him like 10-15 times a game for open shots and all he has to do is take them? Yes, yes I do. Russ had to create for himself almost all the time when he was here, to be able to catch and shoot all day, I think he'd have liked it.

    Back to Kuz

He's going to benefit greatly from Zu sucking. He'll get more run at the 4 since Lopez only plays about 30 mpg and either Nance or JR will need to play some 5 in a small ball lineup.

Kuz will be the stretch in those lineups

Why are we even still talking about D'Angeslow. That ship has sailed long ago. Time to move on and not thinking about what if. This is the Lonzo era.

Any takers for feeling Kuz can play the 3 in certain matchups and against bench players ..... when needed? Like next to Nance at the 4 or Randle at the 4 if BI in foul trouble, sprained ankle, whatever reason the need exists, to have that shooter still out there at the 3?

Was Kuzma projected as a 1st round pick in mock drafts?

I'm really impressed with him. Kinda surprised when he misses, similar to how I'm shocked when Wear makes a shot.

Tarik may be a better fit than zu for this team. Has he signed somewhere? Send zu to the g league. Hate this guy so far after loving him last year
