They might as well get used to all of the trade rumors while young. There’s nothing you can do about it. You can only control how much teams want you including your own team.
Kuz is a very bright young man. I'm sure he is smart enough to understand the business side of basketball. I would like to keep him if possible. After Ingram, he is my second most favorite guy on the team. He and Josh Hart are the two most likable guys on the team. Ingram has a higher floor and a higher ceiling and thats why he is my most difficult guy to give away.
One thing that concerns me about Kuz is that he seems to embrace the celebrity life a little too quickly as was discussed on J&J. The humble hard working guy from flint that was trying to make it to the NBA has gone to wearing velvet and after 5 months selling his Porsche to buy something more glamorous. The stardom definitely does seem to get above his head. He is better off to stay calm, work and remain humble.
we'll know if it's a problem by next year. right now, i'm inclined to think he's just enjoying the fruits of his hard work. if his on-court growth stagnates, he should probably catch some heat for extracurriculars/focus issues (like clarkson did). but i think he's earned some leeway.
Yeah I don't buy it as a problem at all. The kid has started or been a part of something like 4 charities in the last few weeks. He's been in the gym working hard and putting in the hours to improve. He's allowed to capitalize on his status as long as he continues working on his craft.
Asked to become a better defender? Worked on it... Asked to become a better passer? Worked on it. Three a days as reported in the gym? Doing that... Using 24 as a guide? Doing that... Kuzma as potent as he is offensively is still a work in progress. He like Ingram can be a really solid two way player. Coachable and looking to improve. Hart is the same way.
I'd be in total agreement except that he's putting in 3-a-days at the Laker facility. People are awake for 16 hours a day. If he works out 3 times a day for 2 hours at a time, that still leaves 10 hours a day to fill.
1) Kuzma put a tweet a few days ago saying he's holding a basketball camp in Flint for young kids and said its 100% free. 2) He's also visited the YMCA gym he grew up with few times already this. There was even on a Behind the Scenes Episode of Spectrum SportsNet that he gave that YMCA a huge donation over Christmas. 3) Ya..... I understand your concern but its just simply not a valid one.
