Not for an oft injured player it isn't. Love hasn't played a full season once in his entire career. The closest he came was as a rookie when he played mostly off the bench. Admittedly he will play through minor dings, but he's also had some fairly significant injuries. Will he bounce back from this? Entirely possible.

But when you're in a city you don't like, on a team you don't like, getting blamed for everything, getting labelled as a malcontent, knowing one of LeBron's cronies is right behind you so they don't mind pushing you out, playing a style of game you don't want... By the way there's a city you're familiar with already, where your significant other lives, where you have a home, and with a stronger history of success... Why wouldn't you want to leave?

At worst you're sacrificing a bit of money. At best you're protecting yourself from potential loss. Monroe was a younger player with almost no history of injury, betting on himself made way more sense. When there's a situation that you can enjoy while protecting yourself and still make a TON of money...

It makes much more sense to opt out and sign with LA if there's any indication we'll have him.

I sure hope you're right. I just don't see it happening. I hope I'm wrong, but I think this changed the landscape for us. This is not to think that we won't pursue because I know we would; I think Love opts in 1 more year, gets healthy, and pursues free agency in 2016...

Also I'll be the first to say it: don't be surprised if they low ball Love. Tristan Thompson is LeBron's guy. They have the same agent/agency and Thompson recently turned down a 4/48 million dollar contract. The Cavs are going to bend over backwards to please LeBron even if it means overpaying for a buddy at the expense of a better player.

I think Love is walking, but I'm not sure where. LA is a natural place for him, but NY might be more willing to bend over for him.

I agree with that. I've thought alone those same lines; I posted his list of options in the Free Agent thread. Additionally, Dan Gilbert seems like he would retract on promises made in Vegas the day that trade was 'unofficially' consummated and Love agreed to go to Cleveland. I'm thinking if anything does happen, Kevin gets S&T. Kevin wants to get paid, Cleveland would want something for Kevin. The team that trades for Kevin gets full Bird Rights.

Phil would get murdered if he pulled the trigger on Love. Paying a king's random for both he and Melo and both spend as much time in a suit as Fish. Yikes!
