Vash, I hear you completely. But the Lakers STILL did NOT have to do what RANDLE and MINTZ wanted. We caved when we didn't have to. We could have made it work. We could have sat Jules down with LeBron. With Luke. With everyone really. I mean did anyone think that Jules could be had for fricking $8M a year?! Better yet, essentially a 1-year, $8M deal?! If we had asked lakers fans if they'd keep randle at 1-year 8M during the season last year...everybody woulda taken that ina heartbeat. Yeah, Jules is full of s*** cuz he didn't get a long-term deal from NOP...which is what he claimed was a reason he wanted to move on from the Lakers...but at the end of the day...when we have his rights...we should NOT have renounced him. Yeah, we got Rondo for it...but I think we coulda gotten Rondo for cheaper and we didn't have to use any cap space really to get him. Lakers did mess up there by renouncing the rights, which btw, is very rare (only other time I can think of this happening with a player as good as randle is MAYBE KCP and we know KCP isn't even close to Randle but there were talks of him turning down a 5yr/80M deal from Detroit!)
I'm not disagreeing with anything you said Fab4, but look at the McCaw situation with the dubs. Did we really want that type of vibe around here with an influential bunch (4th youngest squad in the league) and the good vibes coming from the Bron signing. Also, we got free agents and their respective agencies to deal with next summer. I'm not saying KD leaves the dubs cause of McCaw, but look at what McGee did this summer: 2 time champ that coulda stayed there on a vet min deal, no different than the one he has with us...yet left the Bay. D.West retired, but before doing so alluded to problems in the Bay. He could be trolling, but what if he isn't. It coulda played out different, but management did Jules a solid and most likely wanted no part in dealing with Mintz any more. I can't fault then on that, even tho I would have liked to get some value (via trade) for Jules. I'm still holding out hope that Rondo does us a solid by recruiting AD here.
Lance is going to keep Caruso stuck all year conceivably on the South Bay squad. Sucks for him. Could be worse though..... he could have been Wear.
KCP can be a very streaky shooter. If he can find a way to adjust to a role off of the bench, he could be an all time great as a six man. For me the question is whether he wants to or is willing to accept that position, and will we consider to continue to pay him at that level going forward to play that role? I don’t think so
his defense stink, starting or bench...maybe i got selective memory but kcp d looks worse than clarkson
Such a disappointment. I don't miss him at all when Hart or Lance takes his minutes. He's just been straight up bad.
No, it was a big part of his reputation. Still don't know why he reportedly chose to lose some weight over the summer (and seems like ... strength for bodying guys .... see Hart) when he was the fastest or 2nd fastest guy on the team last year. But we saw last year the rep was overblown to some degree and he gambled a lot and lost.
Still think he gets traded at some point even with the no trade clause. Maybe a playoff team will need his services after they deal with injuries? Idk but Hart and Lance are taking his playing time and we sometimes play Rondo and Ball together, and at some point I want to see Svi out there.
definitely off his game right now he's destroying his financial future with his play good thing he has enough to retire on, because if something doesn't change, it's vet minimum contracts from here on out
Lance has essentially made him redundant imo, if we could trade him and Beasley that would be some sort of miracle.
saw that making the rounds. philly would have to add a 1st for me to consider. at least kcp is playable. as for whether he's total garbage...i don't think so. he's just being outplayed by pretty much every other guard on the squad. during the course of the season, people will get hurt, and kcp may get his chance to prove his worth. if he doesn't, then he's a vet min journeyman. that said, his contract was silliness.
He was actually pretty solid last season, after his legal troubles were over. What happened? It doesn't seem like he worked on anything in particular this summer... except maybe his diet. I don't know... I don't see what kind of role he has on this team and how that is not easily replaceable by pretty much anyone. But, maybe that will change in the near future. Let's see what happens with him around all-star break. If he's not good, we can include him in a trade for a star player, together with some of our youth? Just an idea. I mean, he did get paid by us, he was treated fairly, it's not like we suddenly owe him anything.
Long season. He still has time to adjust and become a key component. Pretty bad start though. I just think some guys will play better with more minutes. I think Lance is adjusting well, but he's a guy I figured needed 30+ minutes to be effective.
