How would a KCP S&T for Derozan work? You can't combine a S&T player with another player in the same trade, right? So unless the Spurs are massively overpaying KCP, I don't see how that is fiscally possible.

Why the hell would Spurs want KCP? And why the heck do we want to give up KCP for DeRozan?

We could do a series of trades with them, but we can't package anyone with KCP if it's a S&T. Hypothetically, if Pop was head over heels for Kuz, they could agree to overpay KCP on a 1 year to get him within 25% of DD's salary (or front load a multi year like they did with LMA). Then do a small separate deal involving Kuz's contract.

For our perspective, it'd only be worth considering if KCP is getting ridiculous offers from the Hawks, where we'd lose him with zero compensation.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought if we do a sign and trade, that automatically hard caps us, and we lose the flexibility of signing someone mid season, among other things?

Yeah I’d rather just keep KCP honestly. He played excellent defense last season and when he found his shot he was so valuable for us.

I'd be shocked if KCP is not back on the Lakers & getting massively overpaid.. As usual.. : )

How about we just keep him?

I like Derozan but not for this team...

KCP fits better and he's younger..idk call me crazy would rather have him than DD?

KCP was the Lakers most consistent 3 pt shooter last year: this would be a bad move.
Sign KCP, get Matthews and with AC, Schroeder and the wild card THT you have a very good 5 man guard rotation that has the potential to be a significant upgrade from last year

I agree, except I think we need one more wing defender with size, or we’re going to have to change the identity of how this team defends.

None of those guys can guard a big wing like Kawhi on a switch, so we’d be relying on LeBron and Kuz to guard big wings, and I don’t want LeBron wearing himself out like that during the season.

I'm not disagreeing but I think the best move would be re-sign KCP and add either Matthews or Justin Holliday. That combo is better for this team for the playoffs and versatility then DeRozan whose never actually been a good defender. You get a bigger version of Schroeder and you lose both defense and shooting with DeRozan which I don't think makes sense

Unfortunately Lakers may have to give him $15 mil/yr but I hope they do a 2 year deal with a team option. Gotta please Klutch clients since Lebron could possibly be a free agent in summer 2021 if he opts out.

I'm not sure you can put a price tag on a teammate being able to tell the rookies tales from lockup to keep them on the straight and narrow.
