5th? Not crazy, and maybe not as currently constructed, but we can’t be done yet. A trade for Kawhi vaults us up. Retaining Randle moves us up. Keeping Lopez moves us up. Signing a true vet PG moves us up, a lot can happen in the next week. As it is I don’t see us lower than 4th, IMO we probably pass Portland, Utah, and Minny, we might be better than OKC, we are better than SA, and depending on if Cousins stays and is healthy or not we pass the Pelicans.

The Pelicans were 6th last year in the conference, admittedly with 48 wins. But I don't believe in that team's health and they're pretty top heavy. Davis goes down, that team is full of overpriced role players and Jrue Holiday.

    From NBA TV:

Fratello would like to see Leonard traded to Cleveland and they can make him the centerpiece. Then he leaves them for us. Oh man that would be just THE BEST.

Opening night is going to be bananas... Tickets will be at ridiculous prices. Nicholson, George Lopez, Arsenio Hall, DiCarprio, Larry David, Ice Cube, supermodels, former Lakers, D List movie stars, wanna be's with their cellphones trying to look important, that really old guy with the wacky leather outfits. Talcum powder flying off the shelves.

From the same dude that got the whole LABron movement started....don't believe me, go check the first post in the LABron thread....anyways, here's his latest entry and lets just say, Kawhi gonna be a Laker!

    :Noddingyes:

    Per the Ringer's Kevin O'Connor:

Damn right Kawhi ain't no soft a** b**** like Pauline is. Try telling him he's comparable to Pauline...dude will cut you...that's why he's called the Klaw. Queue my drum riff, McMahon.

And yes that is an Anthony Davis reference....this dude put out Bron to LA in the wild a year ago and now here we are. Thank you Mr. O'Connor.

Bron, Kawhi, AD....are you f***ing kidding me!

Oh and I appreciate the next arm-chair GM like everybody else, but can yall please stop involving BI's name in Kawhi trade scenarios. We got all the leverage and the Spurs do not....plus we might need him to make a move on AD down the line.

I think the only reason BI’s name keeps coming up in discussion here is because he plays the same position as Kawhi, he’s our most attractive trade piece (meaning including him we have to give up less with him). Kuz is said to be off the table, they reportedly don’t want Lonzo, and Randle would have to agree to a sign & trade. So by default what’s left? BI, end of bench players and picks seems most logical to me, and again, that’s painful to say as he is my favorite Laker and with his length and year one to two growth, his potential is special. I really don’t want to include Hart either, as I can see him absolutely flourishing on the Spurs.

Oh no, Kawhi's busted. Except he didn't say or do anything. This was one reporters speculation which is obviously wrong.

It does do one thing which is demonstrate that Kawhi's attitude and the viewpoint of his attitude out there is much, much, much different than Pauline's. The fear that he will resign elsewhere with any team other than the Lakers is a real one.

I mean, yeah, he can’t sit out. But people keep saying they don’t see how he can play in a Spurs uniform again. If he goes out there after all this he’s going to get booed loudly by his own home crowd.

Let’s remember that Paul George’s trade demand last year initially was motivated by doing the Pacers a favor... he demanded a trade to the Lakers because he wanted to give the Pacers a “heads up” that he wouldn’t be re-signing with them in 2018, and that they should try to get something for him before he walks away for nothing.

It wasn’t PG’s fault that Kevin Pritchard refused to trade him to the Lakers out of spite. However, PG never went to the degree of pushing the issue that Kawhi is doing.... and at the same time, it sounds like the offers we are giving the Spurs are already better than what we offered Indiana. The best offer we gave Indy was Randle, Clarkson + 28th pick. We are now offering (rumored) Randle (S&T), Hart, Ingram, picks.

I don’t see how any other team trumps that, even with the 76ers trying to play the OKC role.... although a lot of people here are underestimating a Saric/Covington based deal. I admit at a minimum, we have to beat that offer if Philly is willing to risk that on a 1 year Kawhi rental. Both Saric and Covington aren’t superstars, but are very good players. If they were on the Lakers roster I’m certain we would all overvalue both of them lol.

I think around the league Covington and Kuzma has the same “value” right now. Covington is a excellent 3 and D player who just made it onto this years all nba first defense team.

Saric might have the same “value” as Randle, although both are completely different types of players.

My point is, Philly scares me by trying to do something foolish like gamble for Kawhi... and we should be aware that their offer isn’t that big of a joke, and that the Spurs can see it as a decent offer that we need to beat.

This is exactly why we have the leverage and ...I freaking love this.... because this usually never works (like with PG13) but it's why the Lakers are not going to give up much and the word is our offers keep getting worse and worse. (Rob is a hard a$$). They also are saying is the Spurs don't wrap it up by maybe this morning we are gonna consider all deals a no-go. They are refusing Kuz even.

Kawhi is not a loyal guy, he is very much like Kobe in that respect but maybe gets his feelings hurt. I mean Kobe took way more abuse from Phil and others. But the Spurs can not have him in camp (which he probably will ditch anyways) or on the roster come pre-season. A dissident like that won't work in SAS.

Rob is calling their bluff and Dr. Buss is watching from up above to see how his new poker player does. Sprinkling a little lucky fairy dust on Rob too hopefully.

As I said in my above post, Kawhi is far different than PG. They have been told it's a 1 year rental guaranteed but the difference is there is a lot more belief that that threat is true than what OKC (who were also very very desperate) thought about PG's statements. PG just said he wanted to go to the Lakers. I believe (though I have no evidence) that Kawhi's camp is actually contacting or funneling communication to 76rs/Boston And telling them forget it. Both teams are scared to offer anything substantial. Neither are desperate like OKC was.

He prefers one kawhi to 12 harts. Hands down.

Hart is a great mature kid and an amazing person with excellent basketball skills. But he isn't a transcendent talent like Kawhi.

I'm loving the fact, that Magic and Rob are playing hard ball, let someone rent Kawhi for a year.

Remember, he was nothing special his first 3 seasons, our kids show a lot of promise, so i will gladly take Kawhi next year, for "free" ;).
