All i can think of that he is leaning towards the lakers. Doesn't make sense that he would commit to the clippers long term without any assurances that they land a star... Kawhi must be waiting to get on a plane back to LA and then announce it. Would be kinda cool if he calls 710 espn or hops on spectrum channel to announce it. It would be an old school touch i think.

Very well written, thanks for the insight on that. Knowing some of his background, how he became apart of the Aztecs and the process is cool.

Huge Thanks for the update: it can be expected that Kawhi wouldn't call them or leave them till he goes back to LA (or is at least on a plane back). Sounds as if hes still leanning with the lakers hes just making sure... keep in mind maybe Michael Rapaport was right the 4th of Kawhi

Great post. If loyalty is priority #1 we definitely have the upper hand. Griffin and Derozan is all that needs to be said.

We’re still following the timeline that was laid out by Cris Carter. Stop getting caught up in the Twitter world and reacting to every little detail that may or may not be true. You want him here but already calling him names? He’s deciding on millions of dollars, the future of his career and the best thing for his family. Its not an easy thing to do.

He’ll announce when he does and in the mean time, enjoy this nice weather we’ve been getting in SoCal. Celebrate the 4th well with some cold ones and some nice bbq.

Given the back and forth communication they had and the positive sentiments it generated internally within the Lakers, some are now nervous that things have gone quiet all of today. The expectation was that if the Lakers were indeed far ahead in the race, Kawhi would have informed the Raptors today of his decision and signed with the Lakers, which was not the case. Overall though, most are optimistic.

Would it be beneficial for the Lakers to fly someone out to Toronto so they make sire they don’t lock Kawhi in a room a la DeAndre?

Wouldnt they have been worried and not taken the chance that it would leak before they had left canada? I would be, i wouldn't take that chance... maybe I'm in the minority

Thanks for the inside. Like mentioned before it doesn't sound to promising, but then again. All this is completely different from how we are use to seeing free agents do things.

@Melo Yeah unfortunately I hate to consistently be the bearer of no updates (and believe me, I've tried reaching everyone today) - but since I'm connected to the Lakers and that too only via AEG, nobody actually has a firm grasp on what's going on. In addition to Kawhi being so quiet about everything, the Lakers themselves are being ultra-cautious as to what information they're letting out. When so much of the media is in the dark, it's all for a reason - very few people have the facts at this point.

Dont you think we would have been notified if that were the case? You would think he would have announced it in their home turf after the meeting. Wishful thinking has me believing that he knows that they cant compete in the long run , and he has a chance to live home and compete for multiple titles, and make more money from endorsements. It makes sense from all aspects.... but what do i know:)

I confess to Almighty God and to you, Father, that I have sinned. My last confession was 198 weeks ago. I have lusted over Kawhi to build a big 3 so strong other teams would just forfeit. My impure thoughts have caused a great arousal, I've chubbed up numerous times father thinking about a new dynasty. I ask for absolution father...

You are right because he did just finish the meeting with the Raptors his camp or anything is not going to call right away. He wants to go back to LA and tell them in person. I think Kawhi is old school like that. I still have faith.

The million dollar question is, where is Kawhi? I'm so surprise that no one has taken a picture of him leaving his car or entering a restaurant. My man straight went MIA lol

Ugh, Melo and Rondo. This team would be ancient and slow with players like that, we already have Dudley. I’d rather they went after Quinn Cook, we at least need some youth athletic players that can defend.

That Kawhi has gone quiet means he’s now deliberating. That the Lakers feel nervous is good, b/c the Aztecs felt the same way after giving him their recruiting sales pitch. He’s a tough nut to crack, and that’s primarily got to be from the trauma of losing your dad. You need to win him over by just being there. If Kawhi is who I think he is, then his dinner meeting with the Clippers and whatever the hell this was with Toronto will not impress him. The fact the Lakers embraced being uncomfortable with his questioning and his timetable, that will resonate once he has the chance to be to himself and/or with his closest relatives (possibly Fisher too). The whole reason we are here, is because he wanted out of San Antonio, and wanted to be a Laker. He wanted to know if we pursued him, we said yes. As long as he believes we’ve always wanted him, then he will give us his trust to do right by him.
