    Haynes is a little too complimentary of the Raptors in here for my liking. Milwaukee and the Sixers look at least as good as the Raptors do to me right now.

    I’m still holding out hope for an announcement today.

    Tinfoil hat time. These sources are the other teams in the mix. Kawhi rejected their requests for a meeting today because he’s already close to choosing us, but to save face and keep hope they spun it as Kawhi just needing more time. And/or this is actually the loyalty test. He actually already told us he’s in but asked them to allow him to announce it on his own terms. Then his camp leaks this to Haynes to see if anything leaks in the next few hours before he actually announces.

    Maybe I am biased, but I didn't see it as any sort of confidence in regards to Haynes and the Raptors.

    I didn't say confidence, I said he was complimentary. He said the Raptors were the deepest team in the league and that they would be the favorites for the East again if Kawhi re-signed there.

    Failed to mention that if Kawhi came here, we'd be the favorites for the title immediately and would likely be able to fill out a deep roster of veterans behind him.

    Misread my apologies, but to your first sentence you are correct, but your second answers the overall point. It really doesn't matter who we sign afterwards (who I'd bet would be pretty good players anyway). Having three players who can carry a franchise in Bron, AD, and Kawhi, those other roster spots do not need to be as good. So while Haynes is right in saying if he re-signed there they'd be the deepest team in the league, on the flip we'd be the best team in the league if he signed here.

    Would be a pretty d*** move to jerk teams around if he knew he was always going back to Toronto to the point that he’s already filmed his decision announcement. That’s Paul George type stuff to me, Kawhi doesn’t seem like the type.
