Except he didn't stay healthy during the playoffs . Playing with 2 stars will extend his career .

Pay Blake Griffin to pitch Kawhi ... on why he shouldn't choose LAC

That, and I’d emphasize that this is home base where he can exhale and make all the money he wants. He’d be financially successful in Toronto, but that is just a intermediate career move and at some point, likely a quick 1-2 years, he knows he will have to go through this circus again. Why waste that time when he can come to a team that is best positioned to go to the Finals THIS season and beyond, which he can lead NOW and going forward for the rest of his career, make MORE money than in Toronto, and all from the comforts of HOME to the benefit of his FAMILY.

“Kobe, what would you like to say to Kawhi...”

Their training staff kept him healthy because he took 22 games off.

Just regrettably watched Bobby Marks do that stupid screen fill out roster thing, him and that useless chick with zero knowledge of sports were talking like the Lakers ship would sink of they got Kawhi because if no depth.

I hope all these people drown.

Who needs depth when you have a core of Lebron, AD, Kawhi and Kuzma. Get 3-4 solid role players, fill out the roster with ring chasers + G-Leaguers, and figure out the rest at the trade deadline. In high leverage moments, rotations shrink to around 8 players anyways.

Steven A doesn't know s***. He is guessing. When was he ever on point with this kind of stuff?

But this argument is always flawed? The "what about depth??" is a false narrative. The Raptors won a tough series against an obliterated Warriors team. If Klay and KD are healthy do the Raptors win those close games? I have my doubts.

Not to mention that people act as if there wont be a line of veterans around Staples Center trying to join a team with Kawhi, LeBron, and Davis. We're going to have a starting spot available for a point guard, someone will want to put their name in there. We'll have a good 3 or 4 rotation spots available off the bench for big minutes and maximum exposure. A guy like Noel comes to mind as a kid who has had a rough go so far in his career and could use this spotlight to turn himself around. Veterans looking to compete again will be throwing themselves at this team.

I'll go out on a limb: if we get Kawhi our depth will be made up of quality bench players to the point nobody will question our depth at all.

They scared. Morey tries to get rid of all of Houston's depth to add Butler and it's praised as a great chance to strike with a wide open league next year. Lakers potentially put together their own big 3 (with each player being better than Houston's) and are criticized for lack of depth. Like you, I see no problem getting 2 vet ring chasers and 2 younger players looking for exposure and wide open looks playing alongside our big 3.

Yeah with the Lakers there's the ring chasers but also players that are seeking to audition themselves on nationally televised games every night. Guys like Jeremy Lin and Nerlens Noel want to prove themselves for their next contract, and will be available for the vet minimum.

The Warriors won back to back championships in '17 and '18 with the same roster depth no? Point is, both ways of constructing a team are valid and can win you championships it just all hinges on health.

He told everyone about Lebron going to Miami before it broke. I think that's the one source he does connect with. Just sayin.

Lakers improved odds from +215 to +190 (same as Clippers now) this morning.

i think he was the first well-known guy in the press to call the heatles in 2010. but yeah, he just kinda says stuff.

i'd argue that iguodala and livingston were stronger players then (especially livingston). the warriors' depth has eroded over time, which happens, and it was a problem for them all year, imo, not just the playoffs.

that said, if you can get a true third max-worthy player, you just do it.

i still think we can convince kcp to take the min so that we get his full bird rights next year. then we have room exception for another guard (joseph?) or center. and vet mins galore for guys like mcgee, chandler, jamal crawford, melo, etc.

don't underestimate a bigger named player getting shut out in FA and deciding to pull a demarcus cousins, too.

    two things i think:

    a) nobody ever really believed we wouldn't have a max slot
    b) kawhi was always going to take a meeting with us

feel like the media was shut out and projecting their hopes onto reality in both cases.

now, will things turn out that well? who knows. but the idea we were out of it last week and are now suddenly in it...not true.

Man Cuffs is just teasing and titillating Lakers Nation. My gut instinct is that nothing has changed since Kawhi wanted to come to the Lakers and back to L.A. this time last year. But having no power and SA certainly not going to do it .... he's just kept his head down, mouth shut and in the meantime won Toronto their first championship. Plus now owes that city nothing.
