Couldn't be more accurate. If it's not Toronto, it should be the Lakers. There's no advantage anymore to the Clippers once we've got Davis. You could make a weak argument about how the Clippers made the playoffs and we didn't (although the Lakers were an upper WC team when healthy), but now? There's nothing. No advantage whatsoever.

Who has a better roster? Lakers. Even with two players, they're better than anything LAC has.
Who has better training facility? Lakers. State of the art.
Who has a history of treating stars with respect and reverence? Lakers. Their stars are LA royalty, nobody can name the top 5 players in Clipper history and they just traded the guy they claimed would be that player to Detroit.
Who has the best off-the-court opportunities? Lakers. Best brand power in basketball, maybe all of sports. Our kids were regularly selling jerseys at the same level as Lob City.

Joining the Clippers because you don't want to be in LeBron's shadow is an absolute joke. The only somewhat logical reason to join the Clippers over the Lakers is if you want LA without the spotlight. That's it, but you'll fade into obscurity on that franchise. Everyone always does. You'll be overshadowed all the time anyway with Davis and LeBron. You might as well control the narrative and collect the hardware by joining them.

I honestly wish I had the time and patience to sift through and make a post on my phone showing how everybody trashed our assets, said there was no chance we were going to get him over Boston/NY/Whoever . Then when the trade happened, complete 180 overnight and we gave up two potential all stars.

Media are call girls to news. There is very little talented media people these days. Truth, credibility and more truth lack for clicks. That's all they do. Do s*** for clicks.

Devil's advocate here. (I think it would be lunacy to choose the clippers over the lakers. Bottom line is we're an instant dynasty AND set up for the future with Kawhi and AD both being very young and Lebron bowing out in a few years)

-He'd be in Lebron's shadow for at least next year, maybe 2-3. He's a quiet, blue collar guy who doesn't seem care about ego or who's team it is, but he is the reigning finals MVP, and any top tier professional athlete has tremendous competitive pride, whether it's overtly displayed or not.

-The Lakers carry much more media coverage, scrutiny, and drama than the clippers ever will. The front office drama behind the scenes im sure is still a huge headache. He may want to stay out of the spotlight.

-Joining Lebron and AD as a FA is a KD-esque b****move to a lesser degree. Nothing compares to KD joining a 73 win team that just eliminated his team, but teaming up with two other top 5 players is the competitive easy-road. (but that's par for the course in today's NBA)

At this point, I don't think Kawhi is coming mainly because I don't think he'd take less money to come here. And in the end, that's what he'd have to do because it doesn't appear we opened up a max slot. What can we get to if we find a team to take those contracts (not involved in the AD deal) and AD waives his trade kicker? I'm pretty sure he waives it if we have Kawhi waiting to sign, but it's still like 29 million, right? 3 short of the max?

It's that $32.5M number. It's like a 1 or 2 off his max, but he can just do a 1+1 and supermax the next year. He'll make more in Laker jersey sales than either city to make up for it anyway.

If he stays with Toronto I’ll understand. If he signs with the clippers I’ll be salty. If he wanted to sign with us but doesn’t because we f****d up our max slot....dude...rage mode enabled.
