I actually think that the Hollywood aspect connected with being here in LA on the Lakers might indeed appeal to the Unibrow. Maybe not so much to Kawhi, however.

Hollywood is closed off. Doesn't matter how big you are. It's hard enough to invest in talented people let alone untalented people regardless if they are great in another profession.

Endorsement opportunities are better in big cities simply because that's where most operate and where their are the most people.

If Kawhi comes to the Lakers, I will display this as my desktop wallpaper, as well as on my nightstand in a picture frame, and in my wallet after I print it out at either CVS, Walgreens, or Costco, whomever has the better deal.

It has less to do with Hollywood and more to do with a combination of endorsements investing in media related ventures. That is where the true returns are generated. Obviously indirectly, much of this opportunity is made possible by Hollywood. We will show Kawhi a mock portfolio and projected discounted returns over 5-8 years to demonstrate the value of being a Laker.

That makes sense. One of the main reasons we pushed all our chips into the table when AD would have likely walked to us next season is because we didn't want to waste another year of Lebron. KD as opposed to another max or even a few needed complimentary pieces does that.

National media falling apart guys, max deal on the way, July will be a great month. Lebron/Rich Paul haven’t been absolutely quiet about anything bad concerning the Lakers because they’ve been plotting this since they got to LA

Yah, and if you Tobey Maguire it like that, his a** is walking across the hall to the Clippers. My advice is you tell Kawhi Leonard that we just got Anthony Davis at the birth of his prime and you two can own this league for the next decade. Kawhi wants to win. He doesn't need to hear about the money BS all the schmucky teams talk about. They can be better than Shaq and Kobe because Shaq and Kobe allowed ego to ruin what could have been the greatest run in sports history.

Jerry West is on the other side. You better out due his sell job which is one of the greatest ever or you will lose out on Kawhi. Keep the BS portfolio crap in the board room with all the other non athletic suits. Lakers tried to do that stupid s*** on LeMarcus Aldridge and Carmelo Anthony. It doesnt work. Sell on winning and the fact that Anthony Davis is never gonna be an issue as long as you are here because you both are focused and the best all around players on the planet.

I think you need to tell this to Tim Harris, not the Lakers' business consultant

@OX1947 You're absolutely right it can't purely be a business pitch, that's the mistake the Lakers made with Aldridge back in the day.

When I'm talking about pitches and preparations, keep in mind I'm purely on the business side, and just helping with financial projections. Actually, I'm not even in that business as much anymore, as we have a host of analysts who crunch the numbers for us.

Also do keep in mind that the dollars speak to Uncle Dennis. In terms of net compensation, Kawhi was vastly underpaid in both San Antonio and Toronto, relative to other NBA superstars. A lot of that has to do with his introverted nature, but the financials really irritate those close to him like Uncle Dennis.

On the basketball side, if you're concerned, that responsibility falls under Rob Pelinka and Kurt Rambis. Remember that given Anthony Davis and LeBron James are already on the roster, it is pretty clear that the Lakers will have the pieces to win. Kawhi will likely want to hear from folks like Frank Vogel in terms of his plans and vision for the team. But most of this is pretty implicit. Also if winning is of such a high importance to him, he's likely better off staying in Toronto. The combination of winning and business is what will draw him to the Lakers. The combination of LA and a clean slate will draw him to the Clippers.

    Best,
    Mr. Rambis

    ***BOOKMARK THIS POST***

Guys, please allow me to present to you the greatest receipt us Lakers fans could possibly hope for in regard to Kawhi's pending free agency. From noted C Bags lover Chris Mannix's podcast that was released today (this is an exact transcript starting at the 14:01 mark):

"Even if they did clear max contract space, I saw watching on ESPN somebody said there that Kawhi's a possibility--I mean, Kawhi, I don't know how clearly to say this--Kawhi's not a possibility for the Lakers. He is a possibility for the Clippers FOR SURE. And he is a possibility for the Raptors given everything that they've accomplished this season. I can't envision a scenario where Kawhi Leonard signs on to play with LeBron & Anthony Davis. Kawhi Leonard is an Alpha. I don't believe he's going to be playing for the Lakers next year."

I disagree with this. Toronto had a nice run, but I liken it to that Mavericks run from a few years back. Everything had to break just right for them. Kawhi's lucky bounce (and let's be honest, the ball bounced 73 times on the rim before dropping) to win the series against Philly, an inexperienced Bucks team in the ECF, and a Warriors team missing their best player and a hobbled third star. If he is all about winning, Lebron + AD + Kawhi + Kuz is his best basketball situation. If he's about the challenge, then the Clippers is his best situation.

KD was an alpha. Lebron was an alpha. Chris Bosh was an alpha.

Lebron being a pass first type of alpha pushes AD and Kawhi to be 1A/1B options anyways. I can smell Ballmer's ratty hands all over this.

I don't think this is Ballmer. I think this is Chris Mannix, lifelong C Bags fan, trying to keep the Lakers from overtaking his precious C Bags in titles.

It is Ballmer. They hired Lee Jenkins from SI, no NBA team does that. This is textbook black propaganda to destroy the Laker brand starting months ago

Yeah, but the man in question (Mannix) has been dumping on the Lakers for years, not months.
