A 40% 3pt shooter at PG would be essential. Hill has been able to do that. For cheap I'd absolutely grab him and let him start if we get a Kawhi or Butler.

We could definitely be fine with any PG, but Rondo is an unnecessarily bad fit. I like the George Hill suggestion, I forgot about him for a minute there. He didn’t have a great playoffs for Cleveland 2 years ago, but he was very solid for Milwaukee this playoffs. I’d prefer him to Rondo for his solid defense and ability to at least have defenders run at him on the perimeter despite his up and down percentages where guys don’t even take a step toward Rondo when he’s open.

The 28% from 3 in 47 regular season games with the Bucks last season worries me about Hill...

Wasn't his best stretch. But we have to take what we can get if we max a 3rd. It's not like there's filet mignon available for near minimum deals.

He upped it to 42% in the playoffs though, and before he got to Milwaukee he was shooting 46% in Cleveland in the first half of the season. He’s always been around the mid 30’s to low 40’s percentage-wise for his career too, that 28% looks like a weird anomaly to me, maybe he was injured.

I'm in agreement with everyone who says Rondo is a dreadful fit. He is worse than Alex Caruso in every facet of the game. My hope is Collison will take the room exception if we sign Kawhi. Brolo, McGee, Rose, Hill, Melo for the league minimum.

That was Rondo's crowning achievement. He did something half the league and all the fans in the world wanted to do.

If we actually did pull down Kawhi Leonard (and holy s*** can you believe we’re even talking about this?) is there a limit to how many minimum Ks we can throw out there? And how else do we fill out the roster with NO MONEY (besides mle and room) ?

We only get the room (4.8m) and the mle (tax & non-tax) is for over the cap teams. Also no bi-annual if we're going to operate as a cap space team (renouncing all our free agent capholds to go get a Kawhi with the max).

We also will renounce the trade exception we gained from the Zu deal (1.5m).

So to re-"cap": we it have room exception (4.8m) that we can split between 2 players. We also have an unlimited amount of vet min exceptions (counts as 1.5m on our cap sheet but can get 6+ year vets paid up to 2.5m.

Lastly if we consummate a trade in August, we can aggregate Zo/BI/Hart/4th's 25m and bring back up to 31.4m. So if AD doesn't activate his trade kicker, we can still bring in 4.3m worth of salary in the trade either through the Pels or a 3rd team. For example, Ja Okafor & Christian Wood could be part of the AD trade if we expand it later.

If we get Kawhi and he signs 1+1 (on a discount), can we afford to sign both him and AD to max contracts next season?
    I believe we can, right?

Twitter is maaaad over this lol

Entire comments section, “they don’t have the cap space”, “why would he leave Toronto?”, “Jalen our him in his place!”. Man if Kawhi comes here the entire NBA is going to freak, every fan base out there is going to be crying, “how dare the Lakers do this, how dare the NBA allow it!”. I want to see it happen for that reason alone.
