Why couldn’t they chant “future Laker!”?

If Bron can land us Kawhi, I swear I will never say or write a bad word about that man again.

I hate to say it like this, but if Kawhi chooses the Lakers, LeBron will obviously play a role, but it will be largely due to business reasons and branding. Much of this rests on AEG and its dealings with New Balance, as well as the pitch they've been asked to work on by Jeanie. Much of the information regarding earnings has already been communicated to him and his camp, though.

Why would you hate to say it like this lol? If Kawhi does join, I literally couldn't care less about his reasoning. I just mentioned Bron because considering the current reputation of our FO he seems to be the only hope of attracting some of the star players.

If we land Leonard I'm sure we're guaranteed a playoff spot next season.

we were guaranteed a playoff spot with Lebron tho right? I'd say Savory is wise to say nothing guarantees anything. Kawhi could sit out a year with a quad thing, and Lebron will never play more than 50-60 games a year the rest of his career.

anything can happen, and likely will.

I agree... except that Bron part. He'll play more than 60 games next season.

I'm just messin'. I don't bet or gamble, but I feel strongly his best days are past him, and that he'll happily sit out nursing minor injuries til he's fully healthy. Especially if we have more help. No reason to rush back and endanger for your 40 mil.

I heave thinking about him tbh. I wish we'd trade him and move on from this experiment, but I don't think it's going to happen.

I'd love to add a solid 4th pick, trade Bron for some good assets, use our salary cap for great young pieces, and do our own version of Fear the Dear by sprinkling in some talented vet role players.

I'd watch them play. I'll actually have no desire to watch another year of Lebron playing. I'm completely apathetic with him on the team.

I’m pretty dismissive of comments like this that presume to know Kawhi’s inner thinking on the matter. How can anyone summarily conclude that AEG’s marketing pitch will be more important to Kawhi than who his teammates will be, or what his potential teammates have to say about the team? Maybe. Maybe not. Only Kawhi knows that.

    Hi @D-Fish Man !

You're on the money there. But most do know Kawhi has his eyes on LA due to the marketing/branding opportunities. Dennis has convinced Kawhi that being a top NBA player, he should be making more money from endorsements like guys such as Kevin and LeBron, obviously leaving out the fact that Kawhi's reserved personality is not as conducive to these opportunities. Nonetheless, in LA, he'll have those options.

AEG comes into play because they're the primary differentiating factor on the business side between the Clippers and Lakers, as both are in LA.

I have no idea what Kawhi himself is thinking, but he's interested in this information, which is why he's having Dennis and his agent communicate with AEG on the New Balance front. They're also talking to other teams, without a doubt. And Ballmer is definitel planning something too.

What I do know, though, is that if organizational and basketball factors are important, he would not be considering the Lakers and Clippers, over teams like the Spurs and Raptors. Both of which have more organizational structure, a top-notch culture, and better basketball players. This is confirmed by the sentiments conveyed by Dennis.

What LeBron has to say is important, undoubtedly, but it is not as important as the future business revenue for Kawhi when we're talking about the Lakers specifically. If Kawhi ultimately decides to stay in Toronto, it will be because basketball was a higher priority item for him than that. But right now, the signals I'm getting are indicating otherwise.

Caveat: However, these signals are not coming from Kawhi himself, but from his camp. We won't hear from Kawhi himself until the playoffs are done. Things may change.

Reading that, you gave yourself 1000 different outs in that scenario.
