Savs: That last part is me trying to make the best of this by squeezing out lemonade out of all the lemons flung around here.

Jerry had 3 cLip Allstar assets when he came on board. Magic/Rob had MozDeng and spycam culture (in a way they still do with all the leaks coming out to bury them dudes).

Point remains that the cLips allowed DJ to walk for nothing, essentially got gifted Lou, Harrell and Beverley (who is probably a cap cut this summer) with CP3 forcing himself with his bird rights to Htown and they got the 12th, 13th and 26th picks in the 2018 draft along with a highly protected 2020 Philly pick (which becomes 2 second round picks) and an unprotected 2021 Miami pick for flipping Cp3 & Blake (that albatross contract was given to him by Lawerance/Jerry West btw).

We traded Lou (which essentially tanked our pick to #2 & brought us back Zo), DLo, Moz for the space to get Bron, Kuz and Hart.

So since Jerry came on in the summer of 2017, cLips lost 3 allstars, missed the 2018 playoffs, gained 3 2018 picks/rookies, picked up Lou & Harrell on team friendly deals and 2 future picks (one being lottery protected). They missed on trading for Paula & Kawhi and can elect to fill a max slot this summer and can get a 2nd one if they move Gallo off their books. They make the playoffs and lose their 2019 pick.

Since Magic/Rob came on board in 2017, they took care of MozDeng and lost a future all-star (Dlo) for Bron, missed the 2018 playoffs, gained 3 2017 picks/rookies, gained a 2018 pick/rookie, and kept BI. We too missed out on Paula and Kawhi, but have a max slot to grab Kawhi this summer. We missed the playoffs (again) and potentially get a top 10 pick in 2019.

I find it disingenuous that they had more to work with when Jerry came on board and yet with 3 Allstars, don't have one to their name yet. Even if they add 2 this summer, they will have to do so by making more moves to their current core, since they are roughly 12m short of a 2nd 30%max slot.

Meanwhile, we had MozDeng and turned it into a 35%max Bron with a full 35%max slot left this summer.

I actually am not complaining about the Lou trade. He was an asset. We traded him for another first rounder and got in a better tank position. That's the type of move we should have expected with Randle. Maybe get a second rounder for Zu.

I also think it's a bit much to pretend the Clippers three all stars were really all that valuable. They lost Harris and have gotten better. Blake is, well, Blake. DJ wasn't an all star anymore when they let him walk and he's proving to be mediocre at best without CP3 lobbing him the rock all the time.

But in the end, I'm not really trying to argue if we've done better than the Clippers. I brought it up cause it was mentioned. And I know you know I'm not really the guy making the Clipper noise. We can't just compare the Lakers to the Clippers. Magic outperforming West doesn't matter. I want him to just make solid moves.

Honestly things have been hella quiet with Leonard.

Top-3 scenario guesses for Kawhi if you're in his shoes? Anyone?

Well, since we are talking about his shoes, New Balance no doubt wants him in a Lakers jersey, dysfunction and all. The simple act of adding Kawhi to this team (if we can remain somewhat healthy) vaults us into title contention overnight. New Balance's star attraction on the most prestigious franchise making deep playoff runs...If new Balance has any pull, Kawhi is going to be a Laker.

That being said, Kawhi will probably end up on the Clippers cause Kawhi is going to Kawhi.

I believe this guy, more than woj. This guy a couple days before magic stepped down was saying Luke is getting fired after the final game of the season. Then the unimaginable happened magic quit and hinted he was going to fire Luke.

I’d be more confident if there weren’t another team also in LA with a filthy rich owner willing to put competent people in charge and hire guys like Jerry West as a consultant. Balmer may be goofy, but he’s not messing around.

You only believe this guy because you want his information to be true. If he was saying Kawhi is signing with the Phoenix Suns, you wouldn't even give him the time of day.

On today's rounds Chris "Sources" Broussard said earlier in the season Bron's camp was all but certain Kawhi was coming to the Lakers this summer, acting as if it was all but a guarantee. That changed a few months ago. They still see it as a possibility, but much less of a sure thing. He speculated Bron's camp shared this with Jeanie and that's why he's her number one target.

He gave current odds of where he'll end of if nothing changes:
    Clippers-70%
    TOR-20%
    Us-10%

not to be a contratrian but why does rob need to get fired? because of rumors of him not being liked? i thought all the crap trades were on magic? also magic didnt hire rob, Jeanie did so i can why she wouldn't fire him, Magic is the one that quit, so why is rob getting punished for that quitter?

Uh, have you not been following news over the past week? People are crapping on Rob left and right, and most anyone that sees the daily workings of the FO and isn’t afraid to lose their connections/job by reporting on it honestly have reported that Rob is hated around the league and is responsible for bad trades like the Zu one. Magic apparently wasn’t even around. Dude needs to go, he has no experience to be running the entire Lakers FO as he is right now, he’s currently basically GM AND PBO. We’ve had stuff about how the Pelicans wouldn’t even take Rob’s calla though, they went to Magic, we’ve had stuff like this

Hell just a few days ago this gem came out.

They aren't merely rumors. Several NBA reporters have wrote stories about this. I doubt they all have the same source. Rob needs to go, if for no other reason that we won't get a good President of Basketball Operations if he isn't allowed to choose his own GM and coach.

I honestly believe there's a vendetta against Rob, because they all want his job. This is my personal theory. Plus every franchise needs a scapegoat for clicks on their articles. Any j****** reporter can "fake quote an anonymous executive or GM". You have to remember Rob represented many NBA players and had players trust financially. Trust me teams will still talk to Rob and still do business with us. Other than the Zubac trade, Rob hasnt really ruined our franchise. We cleared space for 2 Max contracts while keeping our main core. We signed LeBron, and catered to him (learning experience) signed players he wanted (mistake, but experience). If we sign a decent coach and sign Kawhi while trading some of our core for another Star ala AD. I'll forgive and move forward with Rob. He's a Laker so we gotta give him a chance

We don't have to give Pelinka a chance at this point. He is in very obvious fashion part of the problem and not part of the solution.

He is not a Laker. He is riding the coattails of a Laker. It also doesn't matter if it is partly fabricated by the media or not, it is general consensus right now and it affects people's decisions. Magic Johnson stepped down and refused to call Pelinka a good GM, that is NOT fabricated. That is fact.

Ship his stupid dumbazz out of here ASAP.

I don't get why people are attached to any of these folks to be honest. Why keep Rob when plenty of better people are interested in the job? Honestly, I might can him for being behind the Zubac trade alone because it showed he doesn't get how salaries work and he can't evaluate talent.

The only thing Rob Pelinka had that got him this job was knowing Kobe. Definitely agree with shipping him out.
