I think Spurs are holding out for Team USA mini-camp where Pop and Kawhi are there and they can have a conversation without Kawhi's camp there.

If he wants to be here after a year in Philly then he will be here next year. If not, then there are other free agents. And our guys will be even more experienced at that point when we will really know what we’ve got. Maybe BI or Kuz puts up Kawhi numbers this year. Either way, I wouldn’t sweat it.

Lakers just need to know Kawhi wants to come to the Lakers. Lakers can wait another year. Then they do not have to lose anything. Lakers would have the upper hand immediately if that can happen.

Agreed. I cringed a lot from that.

If Kawhi goes to Philadelphia, I could easily see him staying long-term there and it's probably a good move for him.

I'm starting to believe less that Kawhi ends up here. The Lakers will be reaching out to all the players who could be FAs next summer through back channels and letting them know they're interested. I believe we've already touched base with Boogie, but the guy I think the Lakers would love more than anyone is Klay. I think he's going to be a massive target for them if talks continue to be slow with the Warriors. A homecoming, a bigger role, and potentially weakening their dynasty. I think the chances are slim, but I suspect the Lakers are going to try hard to crack that shell.

Klay, Jimmy or KD LOL, take any of those guys as "consolation" prize but man props to Cupcake for real, dude has been a true team player with all of his salary cuts, he's making less than a 36yr old Cp360

So the Spurs signed pretty much all their players today, including Walker. Something interesting about their signings....other than Gay (expiring 10m) and their obligatory 1st round rookie deal, all their other signings were 2 year deals.

If you look at the Spurs books, in the summer of 2020, they'll only have Mills as the only dude on guaranteed money. The 2 rookie deals will have team options and LaMarcus has only 7M guaranteed of his 24M expiring deal.

Guys like BI are projected to be a RFAs that summer

Maybe they wouldn't mind taking the one contract on our books that has 2 years remaining on it...Wishful thinking?

Haa really? Soap opera shifts. I thought the 6’ers were about to lock that up. Now the Craptors? Drake must be involved. Everybody knows it’s either Lakers or bust.

Can Kawhi handle playing with all these new personalities of the Lakers?

There was a thing where DeRozan deleted all his social media stuff and said something about a new start. People take it to mean he might get traded and everyone assumed the Spurs and Kawhi.

That would be hilarious and I'd totally support it.

Toronto has buyer's remorse, so they'll be ok with Kawhi leaving as long as they get rid of that humongous DD contract

With the Kawhi stuff really dying down (at least for the Lakers), I'm really getting excited to see Ingram back this year.

I think he was on “performance enhancers” when he wrote that up.
