One more: No substantive offer should be made for Leonard unless Lakers FO know chapter and verse about his condition and readiness to play. That would include a full physical with review of all his MRI's.

Until then, best offer I'd make would be Hart, Deng and an FRP. Spurs want more, they gotta give more info plus permission to contact him and his reps. If they're not doing that, screw them, Lakers will hit up the FA market in 2019 for him or someone else. Done.

As far as I'm concerned, Leonard is possible damaged goods until otherwise proved. If Spurs can't or won't prove otherwise, why bother with a better offer? I liked that the Lakers passed on Cousins because he is damaged goods and may not ever be 100% this season.

One more: why doesn't Leonard release a video of his own workout(s)? Nothing stopping him from doing that.

I wonder if a team like Washington offers Beal and a pick in order to go all-in for one season. Is it worth it for those teams that are a Kawhi away from having a puncher's chance. What if the Bucks offer Middleton, Brogdan and picks?

    Kyler literally knows nothing.

But I wouldn't be surprised if he guessed correctly.

Brandon alone and the prospect that he is is better than any part of that package Spurs are asking Philly for.

Good. Now let's focus on bringing back Lopez and developing our kids.
    Enough of this Kawhi BS.

I think the Lakers have outfocused Lopez into forever existing neck hair, elsewhere.

    Interesting.

I'm guessing the Lakers are settling into not offering anything for Kawhi. The Sixers as the favorite is notable, I wouldn't be surprised. I also wouldn't be surprised if he stays there.

Different book from before, but still notable.

I really think he's going to go to Philly.

My opinion has nothing to do with the odds either. I just think Philly knows they are in the East with the C Bags and Pacers as their main competition and that's it. You might has well go big and try to swing for the fences.

Interesting note too from listening to Woj's podcast last week and a few others the Philly have two things in their favor. Brett Brown from the Spurs from what I've heard has experience working with Kawhi and more important the Philly medical staff as part of the team that Kawhi went to in order to rehab in NYC was part of that.

Let me be clear it wasn't Philly staff working with Kawhi but the same doctors that work with the team also helped rehab Kawhi so they have almost an advantage of knowing how his injury is progressing. I'm surprised this aspect haven't been made a bigger deal as far as an advantage for Philly.

Let him go to Philly. The kind of guy Kawhi is, I’m not too worried about him developing such a strong relationship with Simmons and Embiid that he’ll want to stay.

And if he does get traded elsewhere and end up re-signing? Cool. We’ll use that cap to attract another star. Or quite possibly get to the point where we don’t need another star.

Imagine a scenario where our young guys show strong development playing alongside our new acquisitions. We wouldn’t need another max star. I think there’s a chance we’re already the second best team in the league, as crazy as that sounds. And so then you’re talking $30+ million in cap space to split amongst several mid-tier free agents that are already dying to come play in LA to join the team that has the best chance of dethroning GSW?

We have so much flexibility that it really doesn’t make sense to give up any significant assets for Kawhi right now IMO.

I could definitely see him liking Philly and potentially staying but I'm alright with that. We got some special things developing ourselves.

I posed this before, but what other star would we sign? Klay is almost certain to re-sign, Butler is rumored to want to go East to New York or Brooklyn.

What other star would we even get?
