Just thinking in my head I hope we can get one of George, James or Kawhi.... Along with Randle, I still like our squad to compete. We all know if two stars come then Randle is more than likely gone lol.
Jules stonewalling us... I still think we match anything if he doesn't just outright sign back with us. Btw, Dallas won the coin flip vs Atlanta to have the 3rd best odds at landing the 1st overall pick. There is a slightly higher salary as the 3rd pick vs the 4th pick, but any little counts as it bleeds into how much they can potentially offer Jules with their remaining cap over the summer.
Lakers max: $149M / 5 years (25% of cap with 8% annual increases) Any other team max: $109M / 4 years (25% of cap with 5% annual increases) Year 1 of any Randle max contract will be about $25.3M but LA's advantage is that we can offer 8% annual increases vs 5% and can offer 5 years vs 4 years, leading to about $40M more than any other team can offer over the life of the contract. That being said, I'd be shocked if Jules got anywhere close to that type of bag.
Thanks, Id also be surprised if he got anything above $15-$16 million. We have all seen worse deals though haha
Pacers could offer the max to Jules and might if for no other reason than to spite us. Really beginning to dislike that front office. Dallas doesn't exactly love us either. Not sure what they can clear for a final offer though.
I'm starting at his QO (12.5M) and working up to 15M where I would still find issues if he really wanted more than that...nah bruh. There are worse deals, but we shouldn't be the ones offering them...9:01...#NeverForget Since Jules is a homegrown Dallas boy, here's some news pertaining to that situation: Matthews has told Dallas that he will opt into his 18M player option for next season. Also, there are a bunch of Dallas beat writers that conducted a round table for what the Mavs should do this summer and they rather throw their cap at RFAs like Gordon and Capela...Jules name was brought up only once and still was on none of the roundtable's dream summer list.
There's several good bigs in this draft. If they land a top pick, they could definitely draft Ayton or Bagley and they wouldn't have need/space for Julius at that point.
I'd be surprised if he didn't get above that. Never mind the 2016 free agency period that lavished the NBA world with such contracts as Deng, Mozgov, Mahinmi, Evan Turner, Noah, Biyombo among others but even the more tempered 2017 free agency period gave out contracts above 16M per year for the likes of Jeff Teague (19M), Tim Hardaway Jr (17.8M), Ibaka (21.7M), Gallinari (21.7M) - and countless mediocre guys getting in the 13M to 16M range like Waiters, Iguodala, James Johnson, Taj Gibson, Ingles. We live in a world where 15-16M is really not as much as it used to be. All it takes is one team feeling they need to overpay for Randle because he is a restricted free agent. I believe that team to be Dallas, who has not only been linked to Randle (mostly because he's a local kid) but has also handed out such awesome deals as 4 years 95M to Harrison Barnes and 4 years 70M to Wes Matthews coming off a major injury. So they're not afraid to shell out. I think once free agency starts, the Mavs will be at Randle's frontdoor with a big time contract offer. Like 20M per year or even slightly more. Sure, it sounds crazy but the Mavs have cap space, are desperate to make a splashy move and Randle is the type of young solid talent that makes sense for that type of signing.
you may be right, but i don't think they can offer more than 17 million a year unless they trade some guys away
Exactly. We actually need to hope Dallas gets the #1 pick. It would all but eliminate Dallas as a threat to snag Jules.
There's a lot less money to go around this summer than the last two (especially the Deng/Mozgov year). There's already been whispers and rumors of a frigid environment for FAs. Most of the teams with cap space are bad (Atlanta, Chicago, LA) so they're not likely good spots for stars. Teams like Chicago and Atlanta are likely dumping grounds for bad contracts and draft picks. Guys like Isaiah Thomas and Caldwell-Pope are unlikely to find big money this summer like they would in the past couple of years. It's possible Dallas takes a shot at him, but their cap space is slowly evaporating as Wes Matthews opts into his final year (another sign of a cold FA market). They have cap holds for Dirk (if he opts out), Noel, McDermott, Seth Curry, Mejri, and Ferrell. After their 1st round selection (which could be a big), I'm not sure they'll have the space to offer a full max deal. My expectations for Julius are in the 15-18 range. We'd be fortunate to get him for cheaper than that, although I think a lot will depend on his market in FA. Keep in mind Randle confirmed reports that he was willing to sign a 4/48 type of extension last off-season. I'm sure he wants a bump from that (he earned it) so that 15 million number isn't out of the question.
