This is how I think it'll go...

You tell Bron/PG we can pay you the max or you take a bit of a cut so that you can keep Jules on the roster and play with him.

If they choose to go the paycut/Jules route, LA will undoubtedly match any offer sheet for Jules. But the closer it is to 20M+, the more likely Jules becomes trade fodder, imho. If true max players agree to taking less to play with Jules, the expectation is that Jules needs to take a cut as well to play with legit stars and compete for a title.

You start at $12M (his cap hold) and work up from there. I would feel good about him re-upping at $12-15M but $18-20M is where that contract becomes less team friendly and more of a contract available on the trade block.

Consider the market projections and how McDermott (Mavs RFA) is viewed as a MLE type (6-9M), I doubt the Mavs go for broke on Randle. It's never been the way Cuban has done business (see Noel). Not to mention the amount of RFAs on the market with Capela, Gordon, Jabari, LaVine, Smart and Hood (just to name a few)...teams will not look to commit a huge amount of their cap on RFAs and wait for the home team to match, while bargain free agents get swooped up by other teams.

I highly doubt Jules gets anywhere near $18M per. I think it will be in the 14-15M range and considering how Mintz/Jules were reportedly open to taking a $12M extension at the beginning of the season, the 2-3M more per year for his play this season is a good compromise.

i thought he was getting hacked a lot in the first 3 quarters, led to some turnovers and changed his approach, which led to more problems.

Oh yeah! He was getting clobbered in there. The refs seem to be trying to make up for the punishment he inflicts in games.

Still managed 20 and 10 on an off night. I'll take it. I feel like his finger is bothering him ever since he jammed it. After his slam dunk last night he was massaging it and he's been doing that a lot lately. He hasn't been shooting as high a percentage since he injured it.

If the possible scenario happens where we can’t get 2 max players (LeBron, PG..... Boogie) with our cap space, what would be the maximum amount you would be willing to give Randle?

He’s a restricted free agent, so if a team were to try to sign him away from the Lakers... for Julius’ Max contract of 4 years for $26 mil/year.... do you guys match?

What’s the most everyone is willing to commit and match for Julius, keeping in mind that any other team that wants him would have to overpay so the Lakers hesitate to match...

I hope you're right. I think it'd also be a good compromise to give Jules a shorter length contract (something like a 3 year contract with the 3rd year being a player option) to give him the chance of getting a big contract sooner if he keeps improving.

Up to 18 or 19 million. I think he’ll get more like 14 to 16 million.

The perfect 3rd/4th best player on your roster. Pretty consistent 18/9 type of guy lately.

I don't see him as a max or go to type of player down the stretch, but if your attention is on another dominant player or two, the guy could be deadly with single coverage and lots of decisive movements.

Not sure if he meant the Lakers look forward to seeing you next year or him specifically but that's nice to see and hear anyway.

He did nail P.J. Tucker while whizzing an elbow oh so close to Harden's face who was helping down on the post. The latter cringed on nearly getting clocked.

I'll be surprised (happily) if he remains with the Lakers for next season...

You know he's going left but before you even think of doing something, you're knocked into the first row.
