I really, really hope we can dump Deng with our picks. We need to keep Randle.

Randle just mowing down defenders... Relentless. Brutal. Goes after his own misses.

Indeed. We at least need the option to keep him. He shouldn’t be a casualty of the horrible Deng signing, we should be able to decide to keep him around based on his play alone.

I love seeing that. It cracks me up so much. I swear at times Randle reminds of a mini-Shaq. At least I have not seen so many opponent bodies flying down low since those days. Makes me happy! I'm thrilled that Randle is still here and we may even have a chance to team him up with PG and Lebron.

I don't even mind his usual one a game charging call... Yeah, I know how you feel when Randle's bouncing defenders off him. Miller and Anderson kept saying "Bully Ball" everytime he scored in the paint.

Exactly, GCC, I agree. I don't mind it either. They have to be thinking twice about taking that charge in the future, LOL! I love how he dishes out the punishment.

And I don't mind either, but I do want that charge to be so savage that it'd be felt by the defender 'til next Tuesday and won't forget about it.

@sirronstuff approves of this message... Just run someone over for the hell of it if you know what the call is going to be. Teams have insurance anyway. :)

I'd hate to be in the paint against Randle, he's leaving bruises out there.

Actually, I would love for him to average two charging calls a game. I want him on that bleeding edge of legality when it comes to how aggressive he is playing down low. The intimidation factor that comes with that is icing on the cake.

One reliable jumper away from becoming really good; already getting "gravity" in post when he is in the block from opposing teams focusing on him.

He is blossoming into something real nice...have to re-sign him.

Can someone confirm my math on this?

    - The salary cap for next season is projected to be 103mil.
    - The Lakers would have 34 mil in salary going into free agency if they keep Deng, and don’t take on the team options for Zubac and Bryant.
    - that means the Lakers will have approximately 69 mil in cap space. That means space for 2 max contracts. if it’s lebron and George, we would need $35 mil for LeBron and $31 for George ( $66 total).

This means the “ideal” scenario of getting 2 max players and also keeping Randle means that:
    - if we stretched Deng, Dengs cap hit would be 7.36 mil every year until 2023 (ugh yuck). But that would free up a extra 10.6 mil in cap space for this summer. Add the 3 mil left over after signing LeBron and George, and theoretically... we could offer Randle about 13.6 million, which he would decline.
    - the other option would be if we don’t get LeBron, who’s max contract hit is higher than George’s and get a player with less than 10 years in the nba and their max contract would also be like George’s... $31 mil (ie if we wanted Cousins and George instead). In this scenario the extra $4 mil we don’t have to give LeBron can goto Randle for a contract starting at $17.6 mil, which might be more appealing to Randle and closer to what he will probably get offered from another team (I’m assuming he will get 18-20 mil a season this summer).

    Is that about correct?

There's another option Eric Pincus mentioned awhile back. I'm not sure if it's too late to do this or not. We can sign Deng to an extension, and then stretch him, so the cap hit will be around 3.3 million a year instead of 7.4 million.

    LINK

The major problem with this move is that it will likely cause fury among other NBA owners. The loophole will likely close in the next CBA agreement.
