^^^Well to also be fair, BI is playing more of the point forward role in setting up the offense so that Zo can be more of a scorer off curls and double picks. Its clearly not natural for BI to be in that role yet, but its just another thing he needs to work on this coming summer (ie handling the rock and making the right reads...and for gods sake, improve them free throws). That being said, Randle's minutes can partially be explained here (ie "under control" and playing against 2nd unit talent coming off the bench) and dude plays 2 different roles on defense depending on the lineups that he's in.
f***ing imbecile. We yelled for you to do that since like game 2 of the season, you dimwitted hippie.
Lakers Inside Access on Spectrum just a few minutes ago, Randle stats as a starters (7 games) averaging: 17.6 points a game, 10.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists. Why the hell was he coming off the bench again for 33 games? BTW, he's shooting 55% on the season. Outstanding.
Also because Julius is a trade filler. No but seriously, I wonder what other team would be looking to trade away a 23 year old athletic PF that plays both offense and defense with incredible versatility, averages 18/10/3 on 55% shooting, and has great character... all in hopes to sign 2 max FA's in the summer. That just seems like fantasy management to me.
Well, he actually averages 13 and 7, can’t get too carried away from a small sample of starting games. That goose egg tonight will bring those starter averages down a little too.
Did not impact tonight's game much. Overmatched against Aldridge in the beginning. Missed an absolute bunny and a shot rolled out on him. Telegraphed a pass too.
You're going to have bad games from time to time. It's disappointing he isn't allowed to work through his struggles like the other youngsters though. I feel like if he is having a good game, Luke gives him 25-30mins, otherwise, it's 16-22 mins a night. I know it's not the same caliber of player, but imagine Phil only playing Kobe 6 mins in the second half on a bad shooting night.
Maybe it’s because sometimes when he’s making certain mistakes, he just keeps making them? I don’t know, who knows with Luke. I agree Randle doesn’t get much slack, but at the same time he’s a very stubborn player who some games does not learn from his mistakes and continues to have dumb turnovers, then can start to play frustrated and out of control trying to make up for mistakes. Sometimes matchups just don’t favor hin as well, like with teams that have a lot of length up front.
Randle did body up Aldridge and Gasol at both ends. The early foul trouble kept him on the pine. Nance played a smarter game tonight. San Antonio slowed the pace...got back on defense so the helter skelter tempo he thrives on was not there.
Tough game tonight. It happens to all of our young guys. Ingram's had stinkers, so has Kuz, so has Lonzo. Now it's Randle's turn. It happens to our veterans too, see Lopez and KCP for example. To be fair as GCC said, he played some strong D against Aldridge and got some cheap calls that limited him. He struggled against the length of Gasol and LMA though on the offensive end. He deserved to sit on the pine tonight in the fourth as Larry played an outstanding hustle game and Luke wisely rode the hot hand.
While that has been the case in some games, Nance was just playing so well last night that there was no need to bring Julius back to play through his mistakes. The lineup was working without Jules.
Nice bounce back game from Jules tonight after being held scoreless last game. I also appreciated how they tried to set him up at the end of regulation with the game winner in front of his moms and his hometown (and possibly upping his trade value to his future team???). Too bad it was a terrible possession, but that solid D on Barnes followed by that game sealing score in OT was awesome! Finally ended that 14 game losing streak to the Mavs and now 4 games in a row fam!
