:This: This is also why I want to see Randle in the starting lineup at 4 or 5 with Zo. They have started to develop some real chemistry on screen and roll and we could exploit that further. Why can't we at least see what it looks like with Zo, Randle and Slowpez? We're losing a ton of games, might as well see what we have. This idea obviously is for when Zo returns. But why not? Randle playing at his natural position - what a crazy idea.

I would like to see how a Lopez/Randle/Kuzma/Ingram/Ball lineup would do for s a small stretch. What's the worse that could happen, we lose?

Exactly, why not?!! We've been subjected to so many BAD lineups by Luke, why can't we try a good one?

OH...I've seen this movie before. BLo is cleared to play and the narrative is going to be Randle getting d***ed around again cause Luke has a hard on for Nance and BLo even tho both them dudes are averaging less minutes than Randle per game. Meanwhile, we'll continue to lose regardless of what the lineups and minute distributions are. I'm so tired of this discussion cause frankly not Randle, not any player on this current roster deserves that type of respect yet.

Can't wait till we get a f***ing star so that we can stop talking about this dude and the respect that he supposedly deserves....pshh. The reason he keeps getting brought up is cause he has a large enough cap hold and wants an extension that could severely affect our free agent budget. The same contract stipulations could be placed on Nance, BI and heck even Zo or Kuz and all them boys would be brought up as trade bait for a star. That's just the fact of the matter. It's not Randle hate or "trusting the process" with our youth...It's just common sense. You side with realized talented stars over unrealized potential youth. I rather fantasize about a PG/LaBron pairing rather than give any of our kids a fat extension.

I like our young guys alot, but some of y'all need to understan that we're not going to be any good till we get a star. Knock the "plan" all you want, but I ain't waiting on our youth to figure it out. Instead surround them with studs so that they're forced to step the f*** up and compete for their minutes. It seemed to help Kobe step the f*** up when Shaq was brought on as our marquee free agent. Surround these boys with men and let's get this s*** show turned around. We're a market that needs a star, that's hosting the f***ing all-star game and have none to host the damn thing. This team and our franchise need a star (or 2) in the worst way!

Oh and there's also the imminent winning and respectability that comes with it too...

Btw, happy f***ing new year fam and its 2018plan or bust for me now. I'm tired tired tired about this discussion. You bring in PG/LaBron and Kuz's mama could play the center...it won't matter.

Did Brony come to a franchise that hadn't won s*** before, cause it was home for him?

Yeah, I see George doing the same thing. It doesn't matter that we keep losing as long as we ain't getting run off the court like them Lakers teams of yesteryear.

And yet we've heard absolutely zero about "going home" to the Clippers. Meanwhile we have documented proof that George wanted to play for the Lakers (still does want to play for the Lakers).

He liked how the uptempo Clippers played (which is how this current Lakers team plays), but he idolizes Kobe and sees Shaw as a mentor. The most important thing about the Clippers is that George was in favor of the underdog since the Lakers were a powerhouse back then. That only helps us recruit the man since he's going to want to bring our franchise back to the top again.

Recall all the noise that Hayward was going to go back to familiarity in Brad Stevens...I see that no different than George coming back home to his mentor in Shaw.

There are way too many dots to connect in regards to George and LaBron...you just may not be able to see it cause the smoke is limiting your visibility.

This i can buy....ill still hope 4 the best but at same time i dont agree with your rational on Randle, he could be vital for us with or w/o a star if luke would stop f'ing with his mins. Gsw lucked out when lee got hurt n green got his time n shined, not saying randle has green like impact but he could be as valuable to us in different way

Anyways, didn't want to derail the Randle thread. I just think, the only way he sticks is if he takes on less money and embraces a roll that Luke seems to be forcing down his throat (possibly at the behest of the FO).

His RFA status is super intriguing if Mintz has implied to the FO that Randle could take less. But I'm totally opposed to adding just one free agent this summer and Randle taking up another max spot. That doesn't get us into the contender conversation with SA and the Dubs in terms of talent. We'd still be waaay behind.

Vash, you know I'm a big fan of yours, have been since I joined CL back in the day. But I don't really understand why you get so reactive about Randle. I know you think Randle won't be here next year. I'm not convinced of that yet. I'm not convinced we will end up with two star FA's and I don't think there's anyway we should be counting on that at this point. If we do, by all means, letting Randle go may very well happen. And then again, it might not. I'd love to actually see Randle stay as starting Center if we were to land Lebron and PG. That would be an unstoppable starting unit. No, it's not likely but we'll see. Personally Clarkson is the guy I want to see moved salary-wise. I think Josh Hart can step in for him next year.

In the meantime, I want to see what we have. I want to see Randle out there because he's much more talented than Nance and he gives us a better chance to win. And for once I'd like to see him play his natural position as a starter with Lonzo, Ingram and Lopez. Why is that such a heinous idea to you? We've never even seen it this year. What will happen? Maybe we'll start winning games with that lineup. Why not at least try out? We've seen Nance in the starting lineup most of the year with Lopez and it looks like molasses out there. It's not a good lineup. Randle is playing very well right now. Give him more burn.

On top of that, Randle is our player. I'm rooting hard for him. I want him to stay because he's been one of my favorite young Lakers since he got here and I still feel the same. Larry Nance is fine, but he doesn't do it for me. He's a nice cheap bench player and that's it. Slowpez I'm not convinced of at all. Other than one great standout game he hasn't done much to make me think he should stay next year or even that we are better with him than without him in the current team. Randle absolutely has convinced me that we are better with him than without. His defense has been key late in games and is a reason we've been close in many of these games. And it's a Randle thread so as long as I can type on this keyboard I'm going to be pushing for him to get minutes here.

He literally says he has no regrets and just told Indiana a place he'd like to play. He says 70-80% of guys in the league would to play in their hometown. He would love to play in his hometown.

I don't think too many or any of us would argue taking Randle over a second top FA (Lebron, Cousins, PG), but if we strike out on a second one, I'd be very inclined to keep him.

I think Okafor still has a shot to be something, but Russell over Okafor was the right call. I was wrong there. I wasn't a big Russell guy and I was right in that I guess, but for the wrong reasons so I'm not giving myself credit on that one.

I definitely questioned Hart's athleticism and there's been some limitations, but boy did I underestimate his strength. More importantly I underestimated his heart (no pun intended). The guy is a winner.

Deng... I never liked the 4th year on that deal. I was hoping for an option, but I was still happy about getting a decent vet. Now... Lord I'd be happy if he retired tonight.

Walton needs better assistants. He needs to be able to have his players learn more than just their own position. He needs to rely less on the "hot hand" approach. He needs to have consistency (but not rigidity) in his lineups. He's got a loooong way to go.

Randle we just never really saw any consistency of effort on defense. He's done a great job of that this season.

Kuzma I had zero impression on. I thought he was just nothing. I honestly thought he looked like Devean George or something, but he's been a radically different player in the NBA than what I saw in college. A true surprise.

    Ebanks... Yikes.

Johnson... Yikes yikes... I had hopes he was smart enough to figure some things out... He's Corey Brewer without the heart.

^Wesley Johnson is the Scarecrow and The Cowardly Lion all in one. No brain...no heart too.

That was an interesting write up on Randle off the pick and roll. If he has a good set-up man, he could be of some impact. Hell, I've seen Caruso make plays for him. Randle is still good for a charging call each game but at least he won't be asked to do too much. His post game is still clunky as well.

Can't question the heart or the effort though... Plays an angry game.

yea and as I stated it was only in ref to that point in time, where does he say "I STILL" want to come to la and specifically the lakers? All he said is the same cliche as others players say about wanting to play well in front of home town.
